@Faith-and-Hope @Snowie @Shaz51 @tyme Had my specialist appointment. The good news is no surgery (at this stage). Having an injection to see if that helps first and am now restricted to 4 hours work a day for at least the next 4 weeks. It is both a relief and hard but I certainly could not continue the way I am. I will struggle with not being there all the time but I also have no choice. It will mean I have extra work to do to get everything organised for the relief teacher but being able to lay down before the pain gets too much each day will also help with that ...silver linings! Hopefully now my MH will improve also because being in constant pain is not great for that either. One day at a time for now and see where that takes me 😁

Hey @Zoe7
Lovely to meet you, my name is Melbcoffeesnob and I am one of the moderators here, it's very nice to meet you.
Jumping in here, as someone who struggled greatly with my health issues for the majority of 2023 and 2022. Due to severely low ion to the point of needing multiple blood transfusions and secondly having a muscle tear/ gym injuries that eventually got out of hand stopped me from walking completely. I am someone who kept pushing and kept working and pushed myself well beyond my limits. You are doing the best thing possible thing in terms of prevention. so I can totally relate to how you are feeling.
Taking a step back now may be challenging, but it's a step forward towards a healthier and happier you.
Perhaps this could be a really enjoyable thing for you with discovering new hobbies, Netflix docos, and audiobooks. Is there anything that you have ever wanted to read, learn orwatch?
You're not alone in this journey, will be here for you.

Hi @Zoe7
Glad to hear that you don't have to have surgery at this point. Hopefully the injection works for you and your pain eases. I know there is so much work that goes into preparations for a different teacher, but hoping that the reduced hours do help.
One day at a time hon...

I think that was meant for me @Melbcoffeesnob👍
I will still be doing the planning and activities for my kids - as I know them so well and have individual plans for most of them ...and with not much time left, we have a lot to still cover.
The up side is I will be able to rest when needed and work through that a little more slowly. I also have some other things to work on away from school - so that will also keep me occupied (when I am able to). Having half days will allow for appointments without having to rush everywhere and organise around work - so that is a massive bonus.
I usually have a lot on the go all at once but have had to take a step back from most of that because of my back ....so accepting my limitations has been a challenge but necessary. It will mean now that I can lay down during the day so the pain does not get too much and ultimately that will also (hopefully) aid in the healing 🤞

Will just be able to tackle it one day at a time for now @Snowie then hopefully catch up a bit over the rest of this week to make it a little easier for the next few weeks. It will be good to be able to reduce the pain relief also because that has a whole different range of reactions at times ...and is not good long term either. Plenty of fur baby snuggles so that is an upside.

I just hope it doesn't put too much pressure on you to have those plans ready @Zoe7
Ongoing use of pain meds can have an affect on us. Hopefully some of those are reduced.
I'm sure they will love more fur cuddles!

The next couple of days will be the hardest @Snowie as the person taking over each day for this week is new - never been at our school before so will need to fill her in on a lot. From next week the person doing the following three weeks I already know and she will be wonderful with the kids - she also has some idea of how we run programs so there will be little conversation, just supplier her with the work. For now, I am just getting tomorrow organised and then will tackle the rest of the week tomorrow afternoon.
I've been thinking of you today Hon - lots going on for you but know how much you are loved 💕

First day of reduced hours @Faith-and-Hope @Snowie @Melbcoffeesnob @Shaz51 and it could not have come sooner. We had our athletics carnival this morning and it was extremely hard to get through. I did more walking than I should have and so much standing. By the time it was time for me to leave, I was in so much pain that all I have been able to do this afternoon is lie down. Already taken night meds in the hope a really early night will help even more. I will also need to leave early tomorrow for work to get some things done ....because I cannot do anything tonight 😢
@Shaz51 💚
