@Adge, wwhich is the best canary to buy? The best singers maybe? I hear they're very temperamental and prone to disease? Are the better in a cage alone? Or shared? Might at least get finches. Like Bourke birds - would like all 3 some day maybe.

@Former-MemberThe Roller canaries are supposedly the best singers, but I've never seen them for sale here.
Virtually all canaries are good singers - it's only the males that sing (they're trying to impress the females).
You can keep one on its own, although I don't like to do that. I try to keep all my birds in pairs, or several together - it gives them more company & they seem happier to me.
I have 2 canaries inside in a cage, & several outside in the aviaries.
I especially like the Lizard Canaries (number 8 in your photos). I haven't had any of those for several years.
I don't think Canaries are particularly prone to disease, although mine never seem to live more than a few years - except one, that was 8 years old. In theory they can live up to 20 years (I've never heard of one that did).
Canaries can be a bit expensive to buy, considering how common they are (& easy to get). $35 is about the cheapes, even up to $70.

Like that last finch you posted. Gonna do finch, canary & bourke birds. Can they be together? I'll pop over Grief thread soon, see how you went at interview today. Hope you're OK. 🌷🌿🐦🐥🐥

Hi @Former-Member The bird joke is great.
Bourke parrots are very placid & gentle, so would probably be okay in with finches & canaries.
Most parrots including Budgies are not ok in with finches & Canaries - because they're too boisterous & sometimes aggressive with smaller birds, especially with finches.

Thanks @Adge, this is exciting being mentored to get back into the things I love. You with the birds and now @Zoe7 with the furniture. Thank you guys, please just be patient with me, I just struggle so much, functioning, finding things, organising my brain & stuff, causes me to collapse in a heap some days, but getting there with the support I need here & not giving up. Thank you thank you thank you! Actually sorted my tool cupboard and linen today, and actually did ALL the dishes tonight (a lot). Tend to Only last a couple hours and have to lay down. Adge, can you suggest anything to clean these bird cages with? Just soapy water? They're out waiting for me to do.
Thanks again😁🌷🌿🐦:hammer:

A man had a parrot that constantly swore & used bad language.
He was exasperated, & didn't know what to do to teach the parrot to be good.
The man opened the freezer, & threatened to put the parrot in the freezer to cool him down.
The parrot went silent, then said "I,ll be good, I'll be good"! "May I ask what the chicken did"? (in the freezer).
