My current fur baby. Cindy
We had to put my cat down and I asked my daughter (aged 8 at the time), when the time is right would you like to get a cat of your own. And she replied yes.
I thought she would want a kitten, so I asked her if she would like to get a kitten or would she like to save a cat that doesn't have a home. She wanted to save a cat. Gog bless her.
We got Cindy at 22 months old and my daughter purchased her with her own money. She was a bit skittish for the first couple of weeks. But she has turned out to be an awesome cat. She brings so much love to myself and my family.
RIP Reggie. I miss you ❤️❤️❤️

Hi @Mustang67 @Ru-bee and all cat lovers here. I’m so glad to find a space dedicated to all things cats!
@Mustang67 Your cat is gorgeous! I love her colours!
I have a calico tortoiseshell called Mitz who is 7 and I’ve had her since she was a 3 month old kitten which I rescued from the local RSPCA. For the past 12 days, she’s been a very expensive cat as she’s just been diagnosed with diabetes along with pancreatitis and DKA (she got diagnosed with that nearly 2 weeks ago when we took her to the vet as we noticed she wasn’t looking well - she had DKA and had to have emergency treatment that night before being diagnosed with diabetes and pancreatitis a day later.). For all of last week, she was at the vets in a daily basis and is now back to once a week with blood tests happening to check her blood levels, including her blood sugar levels as part of her diabetes treatment. We’ve had to purchase specialist diabetes food for her and give her twice daily insulin and antibiotics which she hasn’t been enjoying but is making a great recovery- she’s now back to her usual sassy self with her trying to hide when we have to give her her insulin! The vet who we see loves her and her little attitude which is good as he’s good at treating her and takes into consideration the financial situation I’m in when treating her. The vet service has been really good in treating her and has given me a discount in regards to some treatments and even donated some diabetic food to us when we couldn’t afford it (I’ve now gotten paid and have been able to purchase the diabetic food from a discount pet food supplier thanks to discount codes found on the internet). My housemate is also diabetic so has been able to help me learn how to deal with a diabetic cat in regards to administrating the insulin and the correct doses for Mitz. Mitz is getting better and I’m hoping this shows in her blood results on Monday afternoon when she goes to the vet again. Oh, and as a side note, as Mitz is orange, black and white, and I love the AFL, her AFL team is the GWS Giants due to her colours!
I look forward to hearing more about your cat stories!
Take care!

Oh @Judi9877 I am so sorry to hear about Mitz. The poor darling would have been feeling so shit. I am glad you have given her the help she needs, but can imagine what the vet bill is going to be like ☹️
And it sounds like you are adjusting well to looking after her at home. And I love that she is a GWS supporter. Lol
My cat lives at my mum's house and I currently float between her house and being in a cabin with my ex. I visited my mum today and I could not find Cindy anywhere. I looked in all the rooms and called her outside, but she didn't come running like she normally does. I was really looking forward to a cuddle from her today. I was starting to getting worried. I just messaged my niece to see if she had seen her today and she responded that she is with her now. Phewww that's a relief.
I hope Mitz will be ok and gets use to her new diet and medication routine quickly.
Sending hugs to you both 😽🐈🤗

I'm glad to hear that Mitz is feeling better @Judi9877
It's so lovely to hear that your vet has been supporting you through this too. When I was a teen/early adult our family cat, Kitty, had diabetes and I know the vet bills really added up for my parents.
He was such a gorgeous boy and the whole family adored him. He loved to be carried all the time and would snuggle up under our jumpers like a little joey in a pouch.
He'd also sleep in our beds and insisted on laying his cheek on yours while he slept. Unfortunately he was a snorer so it could get pretty loud with him sleeping right next to your ear 😂, but most of the time I couldn't bring myself to move him.
He was the cat that made me really learn how special cats can be, and now I've got two of my own who are just as special in their own ways 😸
Sounds like Cindy has lots of family members to care for her @Mustang67 what a lucky kitty

I've got a Ragdoll, Momo (probably not a purebred, I got her from a shelter), my little tuxedo boy, Ollie @Shaz51
They get up to mischief every day but it brings so much joy into my life, I wouldn't have it any other way
I think the second photo pretty accurately sums up their dynamic, he is often annoying and she is often annoyed 😹

@Shaz51 I could really do with some cat cuddles at the moment, but I will have to wait until Thursday when I visit my mum to help her out with her finances.

@Ru-bee Yes Cindy does have a lot of family member caring for her. She deserves it since she was a rescue cat who didn't have a good life with her previous owners.
