Differently weird

Being autistic and ADHDer- I've experienced rejection sensitivity dysphoria since I can remember. I see rejection all the time. Awareness and acceptance helps a lot but sometimes it's very hard to not feel controlled by it.

Over the years, I have been on whatsapp groups and over the years if I feel ignored or if I suspect any sign of rejection I just leave. Which is probably not idea as some of the groups were really lovely.

Does anyone experience RSD? I guess I am looking for people that relate to feel understood and seen. 😀 not rejected ahahaha.

Re: Differently weird

Yep @Charlie17 I probably have rejection sensitivity dysphoria.  Was very ISOLATED when I joined the forum. Working on it.

Re: Differently weird

Hey @Charlie17 ,

I'm one of those weird ones too... always felt different. It used to affect me a lot. Nowadays, I don't care. I celebrate that I'm uniquely wired and weird....

I know this doesn't really help your situation so I hope others will share their insights.

Re: Differently weird

I think age has helped me too. I usually don't care but on a bad day, it's so bad!

Re: Differently weird

The forum seems like a nice place to feel better. I was looking for something like this, especially after a few months of just one negative thing after another.

Re: Differently weird

Hearing you @Charlie17 . For me, it's like i'm uncomfortable in my own body.

I think I wanted to so desperately be 'normal' as a younger person, that in the end, I failed miserably... so that now I say, "meh? no point fighting it".

Just say the feeling comes up, what DO you do about it @Charlie17 ? I'm interested to hear.

For example, for me, I still don't like social situations. And I've resigned to the fact that I never really will like them.

@Charlie17 , we're all in the same boat lol....

A bit strange, a bit quirky, but nice to hang around.... nice to share a shoulder to cry on, nice to have a laugh with.

So so so glad you can be here with us 🙂

Re: Differently weird

@tyme I don't think I can tell the feelithat come up straight away (thanks you poor Interoception) but after the fact- If I can guess correctly, maybe I react before feeling. Which is the main problem because my body reacts before my brain does. So, on a good day, I can step away from my laptop, phone or situation and just breathe or if I have a stimming object with me, I use that. But being adhd, I tend to fo5getthw things that work. So we are back to square one. 🥲

Re: Differently weird

@tyme oh my goodness! I just realised I called the forum weird and not wired! 🤣🤣🤣

Oh well I guess both!

Re: Differently wired

LOL @Charlie17 .

That's. I'm weird and wired and I'm totally loving it lol!
