Thanks for the tag @Shaz51 @rav3n
Have been a member of the forums for at least 3 years now. It was actually suggested to me by a psych as a helpline I could add to my safety plan. I came across the forums, joined up that day and have never looked back. When I joined I was very ill with my mental health, lots of SI, and SH almost everyday. I was looking for support and just to be able to talk to others.
10 years ago I was happily working in a leadership position at a school and looking forward to continuing going up the ladder. IN no way did I know what would happen and that my life would drastically change.
I found a community that I could connect with. I found others with similar experiences that could understand me and what I was going through. It made me feel less alone and that I was not going through this by myself. I had others that could support me.
I also think that by helping others you are also helping yourself. That if others can survive and thrive then you can too. It is a big lesson that I learnt.

Such a great milestone.
I've been here several years and learnt some coping strategies, had ongoing support and encouragement (and looked forward to connecting each day)... but the biggest thing is probably slowly learning to express myself, communicate my experiences, and find the words to reach out for help. I hope that in return I've sometimes been able to help others. I'm still working on my social skills so sorry if that sounded a bit dry. I cherish you all.

Happy 10th birthday SANE forums! 🎉
I don’t know where I’d be if I hadn’t come across this community 4 ish years ago.
10 years ago I had just got married and was starting life as a mrs which bought about so many changes for me. Unfortunately married life was so very short lived and that started the steady decline in my mental health. Lots more changes and transitions that I really struggled with. But when 2020 hit us all, my mental health took a swift downward dive and I found myself at my lowest and in crisis.
That’s where I came across the forums. I instantly felt welcomed. @Shaz51 Was the first person to greet me and make me feel welcomed.
I’ve since found my people. They say real life connections are so important, but my online community that I have found here is a vital part of my support community. I always feel heard and understood and it’s an amazing feeling to share a personal struggle and know that others just get it. Mental health struggles are such a dark and lonely road to… im gonna say crawl along, cause gosh that’s what it feels like at times. But this community is so special.
So whoever originally birthed the concept and put in the nerdy manpower to build the forums, I thank you!
