Prayer For Fortitude
Dear Jesus,
lay your wounded hand upon my weary head,
and teach me to have courage in the paths that I must tread.
Bless me, and bless those whom I love,
and give us grace to see
these crosses
bravely borne by us will keep us close to Thee.
And if at times a shadow falls in unexpected ways,
put Your gentle Hand in mine and guide me through the days.
So bless my people, one and all, with Your protecting grace,
and impart to them Your wisdom before they meet You face to face.
Amen.

Hi everyone!
I don't know how long I've actually been a Christian, I have snippets of memories, like saying a prayer with mum when I was 5 and then going to a youth concert when I was 8 and dad didn't trust me to not run away, doing the whole alter call thing, or when I was baptised at 14, therefore say least 20 years, but I'm going to say since I was 5, so 30 years.
And so it is Christmas, the season all about Jesus and yet we see more of the fat man in the red suit who died 1681 years ago.
Why is it that the world is happy to immortalize Saint Nicholas but don't believe in the actually immortal Son of God? Something that has been on my mind the last week.

@avant-garde as I write this there is an ad for airbnb depicting Santa in a hotel. And following that was the dreadful Coke ad where some person sings "Anyone can be Santa".
I've known Jesus all my life but strayed off track before committing myself fully to Christianity 30 years ago and the hype of Christmas and Easter disappoints me.
What the world needs is more of Jesus, not Santa.
Thanks for your post, it reminds me that in a secular world there are people who have faith.

@ENKELI I'm thinking liquid chalk on the back of the back window, I also like "do you follow Jesus this closely?"
I made my own bumper stickers when I first got my car, that was one of them, still have the template, have been told I could sell them, just get a stack printed, kind of want my own sticker printer first though.
Oh, also had "the closer you get the slower I drive".

@avant-garde I have "Jesus is my Saviour, not my religion" I also like "Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in a carport makes you a car." I used that one on my very religious not Christian ex best friend.
