Good evening @StuF @Glisten @Zoe7 @tyme @TAB @Emelia8 and all sport lovers here tonight. Thanks for the support @Glisten @StuF. Very much appreciated!
Here’s the latest round up of the sports I’ve been following lately. See below for the results!
In the US Open, Alexi Popyrin defeated Novak in 4 sets this morning which is a great result for him considering he had not won against st him at the Australian Open and at Wimbledon this year. Carlos Alcaraz is also out of the open as well which is a surprise as I really thought he had a decent chance of winning. Maybe Jannik Sinner might win his second Grand Slam title this year- unless our Aussie men upset him!
As for the NRL, the Broncos lost, Parramatta won, the Warriors defeated the Sharks, Manly won and so did Penrith and the Cowboys.
As for the AFLW which started last night, some interesting results for the women of AFL. The Brisbane Lions play North Melbourne tomorrow so I’m hoping the girls win their first match.
I’ve been watching the Paralympics as well with the para cycling team winning several gold on the track, including a gold medal tonight in the women’s event from Amanda Reid. The swimming has been good as well and so has the wheelchair rugby with Australia defeating Denmark tonight. Maddie - our opening ceremony flag bearer got a bronze medal in her wheelchair track racing event which is great news with the para table tennis team also going well in their competition. The rowing team is also going well with at least 1 group of Aussies through to the medal race. Overall, I’m really enjoying the Paralympic Games and all the different sports that the Aussies participate in.
I did watch some of the horse racing on TV this afternoon whilst knitting an adult beanie and saw the Mensies Stakes at Caulfield with both of the favourite horses - Mr Brightside and Pride of Jenni- get defeated which was unexpected by Pinstriped. I’m not a really big horse racing fan except for the Melbourne Cup but I do have the racing on during the Saturday afternoons and I’ve heard that these 2 horses are very talented which is why I watched the race today. I believe these 2 horses are also listed to race in the Cox Plate in October so that should be an interesting race when it happens.
That’s all from me. Enjoy your sports!

Good evening @StuF @Zoe7 @TAB @tyme @Glisten @Shaz51 @Emelia8 @Lauz @Tilz and all sports lovers here tonight. I hope you’ve been enjoying the sports you’ve been following over the past week. I know I certainly have, especially with the Paralympics being shown on TV. I’ve also enjoyed watching the NRL and AFLW (women’s afl).
Tonight starts off the first week of the finals series for the AFL with Geelong playing Port Adelaide in Adelaide tonight followed by Western Bulldogs against Hawthorn tomorrow night at the MCG and then Sydney playing GWS on Saturday afternoon and Brisbane Lions playing Carlton on Saturday night at the Gabba. Go the Brisbane Lions! I am hoping that Geelong win tonight as I’m not a Port Adelaide fan. I’m also hoping the Bulldogs win and GWS in the other matches.
Tonight starts the last official round of the NRL before the finals start next week. The Storm play the Broncos in Brisbane tonight with the Storm having already claimed the minor premiership last weekend despite losing to the Cowboys. See below for the fixture of the rest of the matches this weekend.
As for the other sports, I’ve loved watching the archery and wheelchair rugby in the Paralympics as well as the track and field events. I did see some of the fencing and table tennis which I didn’t really enjoy unfortunately. In terms of the US Tennis open, Alex, Jordan, Chris and Alexi did really well to make it to the quarterfinals and win their other matches so I’m proud of what they did achieve. I think the men’s tennis is going well for Australia with possibly more tournaments to win as the guys progress with their skills so there’s some positives there.
Tonight, I’ll be watching the NRL on TV with the Melbourne Storm and I’ll definitely be watching the AFL on Saturday night when Brisbane play Carlton. I’ll also be watching the Paralympics as well over the next few days.
Good luck to all sports over the next weeks ahead!
Take care!

Good evening @TAB @Glisten @Zoe7 @StuF @tyme @Emelia8 @Shaz51 @Lauz and all sports lovers here tonight. Just here to do a round up of the NRL and AFL results from tonight.
@TAB Well, your Port Power got defeated by the Geelong Cats in a major way! Go the Cats! Port will now take on either Hawthorn Hawks or the Western Bulldogs and will have to play all 4 games if they are to win the Grand Final on 28 September. As for the Brisbane Lions, they will take on the loser of the Swans or Giants if we can defeat Carlton. Go the Lions!
As for the NRL result tonight in Brisbane, the Melbourne Storm defeated the Broncos in a major way. This is despite having some players rested tonight in order to play the first round of finals next week.
The final teams are yet to be decided as to who will play the finals besides the Melbourne Storm and Penrith Panthers with the final teams coming down to the result of the Dolphins and Newcastle match on Sunday afternoon.
I’m off to watch the Paralympic Games coverage on TV with Alexa Leary coming up to talk about her gold medal win from early this morning in the 100m S9 freestyle race which she broke 2 world records, including her own from earlier in the day in the heats. She’s such a character and I’ve loved watching her swim and perform in the swimming despite her previous difficulties.
Have a great night!
Take care.
