@Bow at least with the garage you don't need offsite storage. I have a lot of books in storage.
My cat is thwarting some of my tidying efforts. He knocks things off the coffee table and cleared a space for himself on my desk by pushing off my laptop and working papers.
My sister is a hoarder and continues to buy large items. I'm not sure if it runs in families. At one stage my parents lived across 2 houses yet still had a garage full of my grandmother's stuff.

I’ve let S2 and family live in the big house @Dimity and I bought a little duplex which suited me.
However, S1 broke his leg in July and has been staying with me since. Then gd1 moved in with bird and cat plus the toddlers come when S1 has them. It’s been somewhat crazy!
Today I have cleaned out a lot in my bedroom and swept the floor. Plenty more to do but it looks heaps better

@Eve7 it sounds as though your little duplex is bursting at the seams. Well done for your efforts today with your private space.
I'm working on an outside cluster of big pots I'd neglected for a while. There's a lot to clean up, toss out, prune and repot e.g. the Queen of the Night cactus is budding but bursting out of its pot. Like decluttering, I do it in short bursts. Inside there's still a lot to do. I wonder how much I can get done by Easter.

My efforts lapsed, I haven't been well .
Ì've compared notes with a friend who also has a lot of books and is conflicted about giving them away. It will be done, but slowly and carefully.
Today I got the gutters cleaned. I've booked an electrician Thursday. I'll try to get into the garden tomorrow as the weather will be quite mild. I'm trying to catch up on some maintenance. There's a lot to do.

Hi @Dimity
@Former-Member, @Eve7 , @Bow and @TAB
Sounds like you're still going in the right direction @Dimity , even if progress has slowed a little.
I had a Dr's appt today, meaning a trip to Geraldton. Actually avoided getting anything at Bunnings, though I did visit. Some grocery shopping and then home. It was a spectacular day, with big cumulus clouds and very windy all the way from the coast, just over 100 km. {160 km from Geraldton, diagonally to the coast}
I am working at winding down too @Dimity . With recent progress, I am actually looking forward to taking on small projects and working on them systematically. Still need to continue improving my physical condition and fitness, but am pleased with progress over the last few months. Gives me some re-assurance that the time ahead will, in various ways, be fulfilling.
The prospect of positive contact with daughter and her son is also a significant incentive.
With Best Wishes
