PTSD and new here

Hello.

I’ve just signed up after struggling with complex PTSD for a long time and not getting the help I need. I’m finally at the point where im

ready to reengage with life and start living vs existing. It’s a long journey but I’m starting small by joining an anxiety support group and trying to engage socially. I’ve lost so much identity and confidence to this condition and I want my life back. I would love to hear from anyone in recovery around what worked / helped you

🙏🙏

@Jayne81 Hi 👋🏼 welcome to the forum.

I’m interested to read how or what you did to get yourself here?

What things have worked for you?

What made you choose SANE?

Do you have any hobbies, interests, or pets?

Re: PTSD and new here

Thanks for the reply.

I have 2 young kids so not a lot of time for hobbies etc but definitely something I want to start. I chose SANE as I came across it while searching for support groups. I wanted something that would help me to stay connected and isolate less.

How about you? Pets, hobbies?

Re: PTSD and new here

@Jayne81 you are doing really well. Raising children is an enormous challenge.

My friend @Shaz51 is a wonderful person. Watching Shazzy meet life’s challenges has earned my respect and admiration.

That’s why I need the SANE Forum community. Everyone has their challenge.

@Jayne81 for me, PTSD is has its layers.  As my life progresses, I deal with my nervous system’s response.

I have found a good, experienced trauma psychologist, who reads me well and can predict my responses. I’m especially grateful for that, because often I don’t have the ability to predict my nervous system’s response.

I need to spend a lot of time doing challenging physical activity because it turns my conscious mind off.
