Re: Diabetes and mental health

Good idea re tuna bowl @SmilingGecko my Woolies has a good range.

@Shaz51 yes it's hard.

Well done on persevering with the walking and resistance training @SmilingGecko . By the way I used one of your meditation links the other day and it was good so thanks.

Re: Diabetes and mental health

Yeah tuna from a tin tossed in salad is quick and easy to prepare. I do that when Im feeling comatosed @Dimity. I'm glad you enjoyed the meditation, it keeps stress levels down for as you know cortisol raises blood sugar.  I'm still at it with my diabetes journey.  Making slow steady progress.  My diabetes educator wants me to trim down even more. It seems like mission impossible but I stick to daily goals to hopefully realise my ultimate goal.  Wishing you a good evening! 🙂 Take care xxoo

Re: Diabetes and mental health

@Shaz51 @SmilingGecko @pinklollipop15 @Judi9877 I finally got to the GP re the bloods I had done 3 weeks ago. She was very happy I've turned around the blood sugars and cholesterol through diet, exercise and losing weight. I've been on cholesterol meds quite a while but it still needed work.

I'm really grateful to @tyme and the Walking for Wellness thread for help when I was starting out

Re: Diabetes and mental health

Good on you for sticking it out with the program @Dimity ! You've put a huge smile on my face 🙂

You are such an inspiration. I really appreciate you updating us because it's something I really need to see to.

Re: Diabetes and mental health

Thanks @tyme . I'd really recommend the Diabetes Victoria Life! program to any Victorian at risk. Their coaching was brilliant.

Re: Diabetes and mental health

Definitely! My dietician was soooooo good @Dimity and said I could contact her any time even though I finished the program about 6 months ago.

Re: Diabetes and mental health

I think the program made a big difference to my MH as well @tyme

Re: Diabetes and mental health

@Dimity my meds cause diabetes and my shrink won't take me off it because the benefits outweigh the risks so have been sitting on a diabetes time bomb. Have been seeing a Diabetes Educator since November. Have had fluctuating results trying to get my fasting blood sugars down. It hovers from a 6.1 to 6.7 when I wake up in the morning. She wants it down to a 4 - 5.5 Had been eating more nuts and seeds than was recommended so only allowed 3 nuts per day. So have attended to that.  I was doing resistance bands morning and night and exercising once a day. The exercise really works to get the post meal numbers down. She now wants me exercising BOTH morning and night so the morning numbers come down.  The only problem at night after dinner it overstimulates my body and nervous system and I can't settle for sleep. I am down from 128kg to 109kg - a loss of 11% bodyweight since November. I am finding the journey arduous and am starting to get demoralised. I attended a Diabetes Summit last month and used all the ideas after watching hours of research and study but the blood glucose levels would not come down.  I have started using something totally different - blood irradiation using lasers. The man that sold it to me said the naturopath was stunned at how he could get his numbers down in such a short and reasonable amount of time. It also reduces blood pressure. This morning my rising BGL was 6.7 and after doing the irradiation it was 6.1 - a drop in .7 points which is great. So will continue wth blood irradiation. I will also do my Sapien Medicine audio for Diabetes I and II off you tube. People have been able to lower their blood glucose levels that way

Re: Diabetes and mental health

Hi @SmilingGecko you're certainly putting in the hard yards. 11% is great. I'm at 13% now but it's been 10 or 11 months.

I think I'd be on the same med. I was allowed to reduce it but because of recent stress was advised to increase again as a precaution.  I'm not happy about it as it's slowed me down, it's making me oversleep and boosting my appetite so could jeopardise the progress I've made  It's so hard to balance but I'll reduce it again soon I hope. It really does impact my overall quality of life, and there are opposing risk factors to consider.

Please be careful about spending on unproven technologies, some of the peddlers are making money from vulnerable people. You may be at a stage where your team considers how diabetes medications might help.

I admire your perseverance with exercise. I need to make the resistance training part of my routine.

Re: Diabetes and mental health

Yes I think we are on the same med @Dimity it makes your weight go up and induces appetite.  I'm glad you've been doing well so far and agree its hard work living a diabetes lifestyle. I am almost on the maximum dosage of my psych medication. I don't know how much of the weightloss is due to the diabetes medicine, earthing mat or exercise.  I live with chronic fatigue + these meds slow me down.  I listen to an audio that induces nitric oxide which floods your body with energy. Plus I do a mitochondrial booster audio from the same you tube channel which gives my energy a boost. Prior to that I took a new mitochondrial supplement for energy but now its hard to source and its very expensive. So in recent times I have done these free audios instead which achieve the same thing. With the blood irradiation I researched it before I bought it and know the dude who sold it to me. I've had dealings with him in the past. He uses it himself and I consider him honest. He is only sells technology which he vetoes and can account for. There are many cheap knockoffs that are dubious. I research everything thoroughly before I buy I don't just buy things  ❤️
