Re: Book Club Thread 📓📗📚📖

You're doing a great job navigating the forum @Katz42 ! Thanks for popping by the Book Club Thread!

Re: Book Club Thread 📓📗📚📖

Very interesting @TAB thankyou for your comment. So, there are specific diets that can help maintain cortisol at healthy levels?

(iodine in seaweed, nuts, berries)

Yes, I think (not a doctor!!🧑‍⚕️), What this book is explaining is that cortisol may show up 'normal' in blood test - or very low, if severe.

I do believe that thyroid & weight are significantly linked, I don't know more than that @Former-Member might have already given you their wisdom?

Sorry, I was away forever.

(Everyone) it's been rough. Nice to check in with ya TAB

Re: Book Club Thread 📓📗📚📖

Thankyou @Shaz51 🫂🦄🧁

Re: Book Club Thread 📓📗📚📖

Wow, you have all made my day!! @tyme @defaultusername (funny name😎) @creative_writer  @MDT @Former-Member  @Hope2Recovery (I like your name too) & lovely @Katz42 (as well as, @TAB & @Shaz51 - I already replied)

Ok, this is the first time, since I have been in SANE, that I actually bothered to get pen & paper, & write everyone's name down. Maybe, I am getting better? A little?

Thankyou so much for being here with me. Thankyou @tyme.

It is awesome you are studying trauma @defaultusername , I'm not sure how emotionally enduring that is? We definitely need solid people who are informed. I think this book will complement your studies? I am interested in your feedback. (P.S you can buy off A m a zon - & local book shop, sounds good too 🐥🦄)

Mind body connection @creative_writer 1984 was on Viceland last night. Reality is a shifting kaleidoscope?

@MDT thankyou for your comment. The book (1st Chapter) basically describes, what trauma is - if you are shy, insecure, embarrassed, ashamed, - the book explains, that it is all trauma. Basically, Everyone - has degrees of trauma from their past - or current life. This, was interesting perspective to me.

@Former-Member you are the best! I'm so happy, you have downloaded. Thanks for great reply& explaining your 'realm' to me. I still think, perhaps, you & @defaultusername will be able add significant value to this thread -& help to guide it. I want everyone to be able to contribute. It is too much for me. I never know when, I will be well or unwell. Please adopt it as yours, for now, at least. It will take pressure off me. I can learn too - from any questions PSW pose, etc. And I cannot, always reply to everyone -& I want people to be replied to. @Hope2Recovery you are more than welcome to adopt as well!

Thankyou for your beautiful feedback @Katz42 . I think, personally, what we are doing - by reading this book, is hugely empowering. I don't know you at all, I really felt proud when I read your message & appreciation. Sorry if that sounds, patronising - maybe, I am proud of me.

Specialists, loved ones, forum members! Can assist us so much. Their input is essential. However at the end of the day, it is only, each of us, that has the power to heal ourselves - or allow our bodies, minds, spirits, space to naturally grow. (alongside professional support, close personal support)

It is so difficult to change the pathways of our own minds. i.e overcome trauma responses - that are completely out of our control - feels like all hell - meanwhile, talking to myself, that , 'in this moment - I am safe now '

Anyways - it's really really hard.

Reading to myself - it gives me back, part of myself, that I lost - maybe misplaced for a very long time.

Thanks heaps for taking this step with me,

Everyone.

I wish us all calm.

This is very interesting, I love new information like this

Re: Book Club Thread 📓📗📚📖

  1. Welcome @CountryAIR

@StanD Fabulously insightful choice for first book on this thread. Go you!

yes… cortisol is tricky and some doctors need to trade in their arrogant gene…. and stop dissing patients or clients as being irresponsible in their diets…. Bloodwork of human beans is complicated.

the concept of  CPTSD seems to bring more hope than the old dsm bible.

Re: Book Club Thread 📓📗📚📖

This is fascinating stuff, has anyone found any solid studies around it? Off to research some more... and buy another book...
