Re: 8 Dimensions of Wellness
I am so sorry @Historylover - that no one has wished you Happy Birthday for 18 years - that is a life time of non-recognition - so disappointng
I've written myself a note and I am leaving it on my desk to remember you - it is so easy to wish someone Happy Birthday - we do this for family members - but I never hear from my siblings - I really don't want to - but I do have my own family and they never forget
Sending my best wishes though and I am glad you have let us know

Re: 8 Dimensions of Wellness
So good to hear from you @Owlunar and thank you for your well wishes. It hurts no matter how much I pretend it doesn't. I've done my best for everyone and deserve much better than this. I don't claim to have been always a perfect person but I can claim to have been the best person I can be in the circumstances life handed me. And I certainly wouldn't do to anyone what has been done to me.
I really hurt today.
When is your birthday so that I can make a note to send you a personal message on yours. I can't promise cake and a card because I have never been able to figure out how to send pictures which are allowed! So pleased your family holds you dearly. You are so very lucky - and deserve nothing less.

Re: 8 Dimensions of Wellness
Thanks @Historylover
You can only be the best person possible for you - I am sure there are people who think I am a grumpy old woman and that's okay for me - I am a complicated person and I speak my mind.
But I try to live the best life possible which means I care for other people
My birthday is on 6th July and my specialist told me that I have arthritis because I have had too many birthdays - well - that is a joke and I get it - and I am okay with it - but my last birthday seems to make me feel ancient for some reason
You do deserve better but there is not a lot we can do about other people - they are what they are -
Sending my best thoughts

Re: 8 Dimensions of Wellness
There is so much talk about assertiveness - but just don't try to use it or you'll be labeled, and 'they' will never let you live it down. Don't ever be anything but middle-of-the-road compliant.
I'm currently having a very bad time from having spoken my mind in that situation I recently referred to. It just doesn't work. I know now that (many) men have no respect for women and have a men's only gossip club - a band of 'brothers'.
I've marked your birthday on my calendar @Owlunar but send belated best wishes for last month's. I hope you had a lovely day.

Re: 8 Dimensions of Wellness
Hi @Shaz51
It’s so lovely to hear from you
Thank you so much for inviting me to participate in these conversations
I really love the sound of the topic that focuses on emotional wellness and as such, I’ve made a note of the date in my diary, so that (if everything goes according to plan) I’ll be able to join you
Take care,
ShiningStar

Re: 8 Dimensions of Wellness
Thanks @Historylover
This year I did have a good birthday - my daughter came here for a short while - no lock-down that day - and we had fish-n-chips for lunch
She is still recovering from orthopaedic surgery last year - she can drive short distances now - she still has to be careful and she is uncomfortable sitting, standing, lying down
But we did get together
Last year I had a sucky birthday - I couldn't see my daughter as she had a heavy cold and was isolating after a COVID test and I had shoulder pain so severe I was admitted to hospital - such an event!! - the pits - I went through a private ED and they gave me pain relief instantly and kept it up - which not everyone gets
I wish you ( in advance) for a good birthday this year - it will be spring by then - and hopefully the lockdowns can be less
Actually - I am an assertive person - and of course - people might be entitled to think I am grumpy. I had 10 days in hospital later last year - too long - I had plenty of things to speak to the charge nurses about - sometimes it is necessary - but never easy
I am like that though - I did learn how to be assertive - I think it makes things easier for other people - at least - I hope so
