Re: SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

I care very much about you @Former-Member so if you need your always welcome to tag me to chat. SI, flashbacks and those internal struggles are so so hard to deal with. Have you tried just accepting thr thoughts instead of fighting them? Kind of like urge surfing and just knowing they are only thoughts and you don't have to act on them.
Sometimes we go into full panic mode trying to fight them rather than just knowing that thr thoughts will pass so you just need to ride them out.

Im abit sick physically, was throwing up abit earlier, mentally abit eh too.

Re: SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

Oh sorry you got the chucks @outlander 😞 wonder whats causing that. Takes a lot to make me Sick, physically (muscular skeletal systems excluded lol). Have you got something to settle it with?

"urge surfing" lol love it!!!

My last psychologist did a lot of work with me at doing what you describe - observing the thoughts
& feelings more than reacting to them (as if i felt there was ever a xhoice before). Those intense emotions esp fear can swimg up so fast & sweep me off my feet before i even know where its from, connected to. Just feel so messed up really. Sometimes.

Re: SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

@Former-Member i have something going on within my stomach they suspect an ulcer but who knows since they dont run tests. I had something at lunch that had quite alot of flavouring so im guessing that what caused it. Thr last 2 were just acid and havent done anymore since just feel unwell.

The exercise is actually called urge surfing lol.. They have youtube guided urge surfing exercises so you dont have to read each step you ly down close your eyes and do each step as your guided through.

I get those alot to sometimes i dont notice until its to late or they just suddenly hit and leave me wondering what on earth happened and where did it come from. I try to have coping strategies on hand when that happens. It doesnt always help but its better then doing nothing yeah

Your not messed up even if you feel like it. Youve been through and are going through alot where so many things are expected of you they call all build up.

Do you have anything that does help you? If not when im on the computer next ill have a look through my bag of tricks and share some with you...

Some nurses are over confident.  That was a bit rude and a backhander.

Another thing we have in common @Former-Member strong stomachs and immune systems but compromised musculor-skeletal systems.  For me back/neck issues reflect ongoing accumulated stressors.  We both have had a tough ride.

One thing that helps me is to be more cautious and careful about me as lil ole lady.   lol

I do not try and stretch myself as much anymore.  I hope that keep a breakdown at bay.

SO once again, go easy on ourself in your caring role. Your dad is slowly going to decline. You can only do so much.  Try and keep yourself good and smell roses. You matter without being in carer role.  Just for yourself... and Yes, Who knows that lovely son of yours may surprise you one day.

Re: SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

despondent today -despondent today -Feeling really flat - Gone back to bed listening to dads shower nurse (late again, they don't  need yo or want to interact with me when they can find everything).  Actually annoyed with them lately - 7am shower one day - 10am the next - poor dad.  Have to shwer him in between half the time anyway.  And they leave wet dressings on 1/2 time...  And  their office stuffed up my respite this week 3hrs is precious to me & ait ngers me they presume right o change it willynilly.  Just cranky,  grumpy...

Stll easily agitated since cortisone inj the other day (and yes shoulder still sore) - it occurred to me later - its possible i'm reacting to the local anesthetic injected with the cortisone. Its the same as after the dentist.

Anyway= just taking a moment laydown.  Oops,  noded off.  Betta go check dad - do M/T hohum!
