Hi guys please welcome @Janis_J to the forums. She wants to know how to build more self compassion and to be honest I need to know how to do that too. When things happen, I am often embarrassed/ashamed at my reaction/over-reaction and I just hate myself as a result.

Hi @Oaktree @Former-Member @Janis_J ,
Hrmmmm.... self compassion. A tricky one indeed. I certainly struggle to have self-compassion for myself. I know the strategies, but I'm yet to find room to have compassion on myself.
Strat 1:
Consider the things you say to yourself. Would you say that to other people? For example, you may say to yourself, "I am absolutely useless and good for nothing." Would you say this directly to someone else?
Strat 2:
Have a picture of you as a child and talk to him/her. How would you speak compassionately to this child? Then find the same compassion for your inner-child.
Strat 3:
Sounds stupid, but talk to yourself using a mirror. Could you honestly say some of the things you say , to yourself?
All can say is give it a go!

The biggest excitement in my day was 5 pieces of KFC for $8 for lunch. I have a cold at the moment and feel lousy so I had an afternoon nap. Just watching tv now. Weather here is grey and miserable.
