Re: Living with Loneliness
Hi @Zesty88
The first post is difficult for most of us, especially when we need to show that vulnerability. Most of us with attachment issues spend our lives hiding that vulnerability to protect ourselves. I have learnt recently that opening ourselves up to others and showing that vulnerability is suck a massive strength! It takes so much courage to do. So be proud of yourself for doing so and know that yiu have that strength to continue to do wgat you need to do to get yourself into a better place mentally.
While not a diagnosis as such, I remember when i found out recently that a lot of my own issues stemned for being adopted which caused severe attachment issues. After 50 odd years of blaming myself and have so little self confidence, it was freeing to know what my issues were were very common with not only other adoptees, but other people who grew up without that emotional support. It was incredibly freeing to know there was a reason for what id been through and that my own struggles were shared by many others. I finally felt like I wasnt broken, but just dealing with things the best I could with the knowledge I had. Now that I knew why I was the way I was, and had people that I could talk to about it, I felt that strength inside me to be vulnerable at share with others for the first time.
So it just sounds to me like you're now in a similar position to what I was a few months ago. So dont feel like you're back to square 1 after these past few years, I think you've made a huge step forward. You now have a diagnosis, and the strength to now go with the knowledge you need to move in the right direction. It takes time and a lot of small steps, but as I said, it seems to me like you've just taken a big one!
I'm sure you'll find a lot of people here who understand what you're dealing with and as a lot of us here like to say... you're not alone here.
In my 6 months here, i gmhave learnt to be more vulnerably and start to work on my own issues with loneliness and work on improving mumy own connection needs and have made some good progress so far. I feel that I have more, and stronger, connections with some very supportive people now than at any time in my life previously. So keep working away, kean on that strength you possess and hopefully you will feel you are really starting to understand yourself much more and find that same improvement that ive found in building those stronger connections that meed our needs. The very best of luck to you. Keep heading in the right direction.

WOW @Zesty88 you are progressing well.
Emotional validation is important and the only place I have properly received it, is here in the forum.
