Re: Chronic kidney disease & mental health

Hi @Shaz51 - hearing you, sorry the kidney function is so bad. I thought you were already with a urologist. Hope you get in soon and get the best help with this. At what point to they start dialysis? 😟 this is very hard but you might start to feel better. I'm surprised your sugar isnt more under control with how active you are... all the work you do. Wonder if stress affects sugars, you've sure had a lot of that. I found out yesterday were suppose to eat SEVEN CUPS of salad a day 😲 for proper balance of electrolytes etc. Gosh, by the time we've consumed all that there'd be no room for carbs etc lol.

I'm so thankful I don't have diabetes, but "pre diabetic" apparently, so consider myself a diet controlled diabetic - have to see sugars and refined carbs as toxic for me (hard habit to break). All my dad's side dx type2 diabetes by their mid 40s.

Gotta keep the BSL down, and burn it off as it is too hard on the kidney's fine filtering system. Some say we can reverse diabetes but it's tricky when ya on insulin etc. Wish I knew more to help, but hearing you... It's hard 😢 Chin up. Hugzz

Re: Chronic kidney disease & mental health

Aw @Shaz51

You have been feeling pretty ordinary lately and I guess this is the reason - Poor Little Kidney is really battling

I am sure every thing that can be done is going to be difficult and diet isn't going to help now - so it has to be dialysis or a kidney transplant or both - not at the same time I am sure but dialysis and then a transplant - if possible

The public system can really take it's time - I remember hearing that you weren't sick enough to have this treatment in the past and I was concerned about that - I mean - how sick to you have to be. I was upset about that and yes - maybe the future will be rough but better if they help you

I'm sorry you are battling so hard - I really feel for poor little kidney - and actually I think you keep him even if you have a transplant. Strange - I really care about him - aw

Dec

I think I still have Poor Little Kidney's pic - and yes! I do

Aw - I'm still here but it's not easyAw - I'm still here but it's not easy

Re: Chronic kidney disease & mental health

Hello @Shaz51

I do hope that you get some answers that will clarify how to further look after yourself moving forward after receiving these results.

I have found with some specialists that they are not best suited to explaining situations.

I write things down that I need more clarification on.

I take the list with me along with my husband, who often hears different information to me.

My mindset at time can overcloud what I am being told.

Another suggestion ask them to print out the best advice for you so that you can take it home with you. You are then free to read and digest in your own time at your own pace.

Also if kept on a noticeboard or fridge or a place that you pass daily; a gentle reminder for preparing shopping list.

Mr Shaz can also read in his own time at his own pace. This might help allay some of his fears and anxiety.

You look after mr shaz and mum shaz. you are very capable of looking after mrs shaz, yes,you lovely lady.

you are just at the beginning of a new journey.

It is also great that you can write about your concerns on the forum. A good place that you chose to write on as well.

Your friends will be here for you to support you along the way.

Time for you now to get back some of that support that you have given for so long to so many.

love Sophia 1 💜
