Yes @Anastasia I was watching the NSW press conference this morning and saw the changes to mask wearing rules in Greater Sydney, Central Coast, Illawarra and the Blue Mountains.  Good thing you went to the movies last night with your boys.  From now on, you will need to wear a mask. I think its a sensible precaution, and am not against it. Although its not mandatory in regional or rural NSW yet, I have noted that there has been a recent re-emergence of people wearing masks in supermarkets.  I keep a cloth mask in my handbag for use if needed, and I expect I may well start wearing mine again before too long.  Although it appears that the current outbreak in Sydney is under control, its such a worry that they still do not know where it orginated from.  Patient X is still out there .. somewhere. 

I read that you are doing some diamond painting today.  Good one.  Reading that, reminded me that I am yet to seal and frame my most recently completed one.  I really should get onto that.  I have rolled it with a rolling pin and left it pressing under some weighty books.  And thats as far as I've gone since my surgery, which was 7 weeks ago now. How time flies.  If I finish that one, I can start a new one.  Hmmm good incentive to get onto it I suppose.

And now the insurance company has  decided  not to demolish or rebuild ( it is now up to us To do it )

Seven weeks Em,

Gosh time is racing on. It will be the 12th before we blink. We have been wearing them since the Northern Beaches debarcle  so it is reassuring that they have been made mandatory I think. Protects the vulnerable (you included) 🤗

I have to frame a Harry Potter one I made for a girlfriend. It will be my first so I feel nervous as to doing so. I didn't realise I had to roll it etc! Gosh so just to check first I roll it, then how long do I lay it under books for? Then modge podge, then frame? Is that everything lol? Thank you in advance @Emelia8 🌻🙏💞

I dont understand why the Insurance company has decided that @Shaz51 ... it seems like a huge imposition on you to have to do it all on your own.  I'm sorry they Insurance Company were not more helpful.  Can a builder or someone else give you some advice perhaps?

Yes @Anastasia very true ... mask wearing is designed to protect the vulnerable, and I guess I am now one of those. 😔

Ummm .. yeah, thats what I do anyway.  Finish all the drill placement, roll to ensure all the drills are securely placed and even it all out nicely.  You shouldnt need to press under any weight, but I did because I ran out of time before my surgery to do the sealing with Mod Podge.  So you can omit the pressing under books. 😊  Try looking up Diamond Painting tips online for advice on how best to proceed.  Dont forget that I am a relative newby too. 💞  I have lots to learn, and in fact learning on the run.  Hope your Harry Potter masterpiece turns out well.  I understand your nervousness.  I was very nervous when doing my first mod podge sealing.

How I understand  it @Emelia8  It depends on How much you are insured  for and the insurance company have their own builders and trade people 

And since  we live in a rural area,  it will cost more than the insurance company will pay 

Soo in other words they give us All the money settlement to get it done locally

Okay @Shaz51 that makes sense. So you will receive a payout for the value insured. Then its up to you to spend it as you choose.

Is it an option to add onto your mums house, eg a granny flat, and invest the balance for future use?

One thing  we have to do first is to pay for the demolishing and removing  the rubble

I guess @Shaz51, once the necessary demolition and clean up is done, other decisions can now wait. Of prime importance however, must be your own immediate comfort. So a short term solution, and quicker than rebuilding, could be to renovate your Mums house. Adding a room, or a separate self contained flat if the facility is there, could be a solution. But just be aware that if you are not the sole beneficiary of your Mums estate, you may need to draw up a legal agreement to ensure you do not lose the money you invest.
