Trauma is really hard I to had an abusive father then my first husband. It's tough to say the least. Could you possibly get respite so you could join a group of some Kind and meet up with new people who will support you and think about seeing a professional person to talk to. This forum is a great way to talk but nothing beats face to face with someone and a little respite for yourself. I personally don't watch the news at the moment it's so negative. Thank you so much for your honesty in telling your story maybe one-day I'll tell mine and be brave like you have been. Take care of yourself

Thank you so much for your kind words @MichMichelle. I hope one day you feel comfortable enough to tell your story here too. I agree that the forum is a great place to talk, and that is the main reason I came here in the first place. I do see a clinical psychologist, and as part of my ongoing therapy she wanted me to join an online forum. She felt I may be able to open up more easily in a written form of communication and in an anonymous setting. She was right.
I continue to see her roughly once every 3-4 weeks, so I do receive ongoing face to face support from her. But even so, I still find the forums to be a very helpful supplementary form of support in between appointments. There have been times where the members here on the forums have kept me safe, and relatively sane.
I join the others here in warmly welcoming you to the forums. I hope to see you around some more. And please feel free to tag me into any of your posts. You can alert people by putting an @ symbol followed by the user name. And then the member will receive a notification that someone has tagged them in a conversation.
I look forward to talking to you again in future. You are very welcome on this thread any time. Or, you could start your own thread when you feel comfortable enough to do so. If you need any assistance navigating the forums, please do not hesitate to ask for help.
You take care too MichMichelle.
