Mr D likes everything @Shaz51 @Determined@ will often buy pasties on his day out, but is happy to have healthy food at home as he wants to lose weight (and keep constipation at bay)

I love all of those things also @Former-Member @Shaz51
So far so good though with the new diet.
All the party food in the kitchen at the moment (s2 birthday party tomorrow) is messing with my determination and cravings so see how long it lasts lol

I am quite pleased with myself tonight @Former-Member
When dropping S1 off for youth group they were short a driver for progressive supper night so I offered to help before considering all the yummy food that I would be seeing.
Well other than some home made South African saussage I was able to resist all the brownies, icecream, and other nice smelling party food 😊

Well I may have done well last night but it was a diet fail today. Dominos pizza for lunch with lollies and chocolate mudcake (birthday cake)

Re: self care -- Food, Salt , Sugar , Water
Sounds like you need a special occasions clause @Determined ..... three teaspoonsful of anything that is normally considered “contraband”.
I find that helps you to join in the sense of occasion, and not feel deprived either, without going overboard.
It’s a mouthful of soft drink, it’s a heaped tablespoon of birthday cake, it’s a half a slice of a small pizza, it’s a party-sized sausage roll .... so you know you can have all that, along with carrot and celery sticks with dip, some olives, strawberries, watermelon .... and not beat yourself up over it.
Its also hard for anyone else, especially the kids, to pick up that you’re “dieting”. Instead it shows them how everything is on a continuum .... and you are choosing to operate at the mid to healthy end of the food scale.
I hope that helps. I know it’s only one way of doing things, but it works for me.
