Re: Coping Toolbox ( what is in yours to help you cope )

I have a hand crochetted "stress ball" in my coping kit.
I love its detailed pattern of many colours.
I do not know its origins except that a colleague left it behind.
I think of the person who made it, wherever in the world they may be or have been and it gives me a sense that we are all connected

Re: Coping Toolbox ( what is in yours to help you cope )

hey @Shaz51 thanks for the tag, I've been MIA for weeks now...

things got hectic at home, but are a bit more settled now. I did that thing where I just hide in bed for a couple of days and I'm cool again now.

We saw the pdoc together 2 weeks ago and she explained about how after I have the adrenline rush of panic when the Mr has a hissy, I'm left with cortisole which affects my mood for days afterwards... I get really, really impatient and irritable and until she explained it I had no idea why I was becoming so cranky and short tempered.

Now that I know the physiological cause I can do things to reduce my cortisol - like breathing exercises or going for a walk - before I get too overwhelmed. Just saying "you should get some exercise to feel better" wasn't enough to motivate me, but understanding the science makes a huge difference in my mind.

Information is a powerful coping tool.
