@Former-Member, We needed to take Older Daughter to a medical appointment yesterday. While she was at the appointment, we found a nice parkland spot to sit quietly and read while we waited. While there, a friend walked past and stopped to ask how we were.
Realised when talking to her that one of the things we think of in such situations is "what can we do to look after ourselves while we do xyz?". Little time outs and little treats. 🙂 They help.

When Mr Darcy was having weekly appts in the big smoke we would treat ourselves out to lunch, trying out different cafes @Smc. I saw it as small compensation for what was an emotionally difficult time.

Need to try to send some parcel hampers off - & organise somewhere nice to go (or people to spend Christmas day with).
I've spent far too many Christmases at home on my own - because nowhere to go."
Sometimes we do need to ramp up self care around Christmas. We found sharing Christmas with others who like us, did not have family near by, much better than feeling like a square peg in a round hole at anothers family get together.
