Sorry but I can't work out how to follow thread.

Re: Topic Tuesday // Tues, 15 March, 7pm AEDT // Managing and changing your thoughts

There is a particular model in CBT that I thought it would be helpful to focus on tonight called the ABC model.

The ABC model proposes that how we feel and act is not directly caused by the situation we are in – instead, our emotional and behavioural reactions are influenced by the automatic thoughts we have in response to situations. Unhelpful thinking styles can make us feel worse, and interfere with us doing things that we need and want to do in our lives. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Sure @CherryBomb. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, or CBT, is an approach to understanding and treating mental illness which looks at how a person’s thoughts, feeling and behaviours interact, and how this can contribute to their distress.

@Shimmer can you tell us how do thinking patterns work and affect us?

Hi @Polly48 to follow the thread, ensure that you refresh the page so that you can see any new posts coming in. Let me know if that does/doesn't help.

Hi @Shaz51,

Thanks for joining us. I hope tonight is useful for you to learn more about CBT that might be good to share with your husband.

You mentioned he is happy to hear more about CBT to see if it will help him at home. Would you like to share some of the things he hopes it might help him with? Then we could consider together what might be useful.

Re: Topic Tuesday // Tues, 15 March, 7pm AEDT // Managing and changing your thoughts

Wow, that's interesting @Shimmer. I can relate to catastrophising, and 'all or nothing'.

Can others relate to any of these?

@Shaz51 hope you find tonight useful for your hubby.
