@Shimmer Are there specific diagnoses that CBT is more relevant for? What happens if CBT doesn’t work for me? Different approaches?

Yes i try to practice mindfullness, i try to allow these thoughts and feelings to pass and not react to them, but i really struggle with this, maybe i need more practice 🙂
Thank you so much for the night @Shimmer, @CherryBomb and all the forumites 🙂

@Jacques I'm sorry to hear that there are so many sources of distress for you. I can hear that you try really hard with this 🙂 Maybe one thing for you to focus on if you feel like you are just seeing the negative is the mental filter - that is, when you think about yourself, trying to include positive things too, like how much you mean to and help out all your Forums friends

Practice makes perfect @Jacques! Well, maybe not perfect, but better anyway.
To end tonight, can I ask what was one thing that you found useful/helpful tonight that you will take away and use?

Hi @CherryBomb
It takes time , so one day at a time , to think postive thoughts

Good question @CherryBomb - there is strong evidence that CBT is helpful for a range of mental illnesses. However, you may find that CBT isn’t the best approach for you. Psychology is not a “one size fits all” discipline. There is a huge range of treatment approaches out there (and a huge range of psychologists that deliver them!) and different ones will fit different individuals better. Or maybe you might find CBT helpful to a certain degree, but then want something else. This is all okay – there is no “right” way to recover

What a great thing to take away @Lookingup! How we treat ourselves is so important!
If people would like to explore this approach to identifying and challenging unhelpful thinking styles further, perhaps we can start a thread to keep the discussion going?
