Re: Topic Tuesday // Healthy Relationships in Lockdown // Tues 31st August, 7:00-8:30PM AEST

Question 6: What are some ways to look after ourselves after household/relationship conflict? What are your best tips for self-care?

  • Consider what you need after a fight
    • A walk to clear your head
    • Space from the other person
    • A hug from a safe person
    • Chatting to a safe person
    • Crying
    • Hugging a stuffed toy
  • Have a healthy meal
  • Clean a window
  • Do a chore
  • Think about what makes you happy and make a list:
    • Do one of these things when you’ve had a conflict

@cloudcore getting some space is good, journaling, talking about it to someone else, distracting yourself with favourite tv shows/books/podcasts, going for a walk if still daylight

@JungleGiants those are great self-care practices! I personally love journaling and going for walks as well to release pent up emotional and physical energy after conflict Smiley Very Happy

@cloudcore I really should journal more, they had that 2020 diary collection for history but mine is mainly for being emotional not historical lol

@JungleGiants  I totally agree with you, it is great that phone calls are back and normalised.

I have to go now. Thanks, @cloudcore , @Former-Member , @Daisydreamer & everyone for an interesting forum. I've been beset with distractions and haven't had time to read all the posts yet, TBH. But I'll come back when time allows and read through the whole thread! Smiley Happy

Re: Topic Tuesday // Healthy Relationships in Lockdown // Tues 31st August, 7:00-8:30PM AEST

@chibam It sounds like there's a lot of judgement around you wanting to leave and end your life and thinking you're not allowed to because of other people. I can imagine there are strong feelings of helplessness and hopelessness that come up for you when this happens and that you may feel quite alone. I want to encourage you to contact the Suicide Call Back Service and speak with one of the counsellors. They are equipped to have this conversation with you,  unpack it more in a non-judgemental space. I believe that you would be able to receive more focused support with the SCBS compared to the forums. In saying that, please continue to engage in the forums and obtain peer support from the SANE community.

Thank you to the amazing @Former-Member for your valuable tips and thoughts. We are so grateful you could be here with us and to hold space for this discussion Smiley Happy

This brings our conversation to a close. Please feel free to continue the discussion and share tips on the forums (as this thread will soon close). Thank you to all the incredible people who were here tonight, @Oaktree @JungleGiants @Shaz51 @BPDSurvivor @chibam @Mezza65 @Anastasia and @Daisydreamer

Goodnight everyone and take care! Our next Topic Tuesday will be on the 14th of September, more information will be out on that soon Smiley Very Happy
