Question 6.
I think talking about it with people and use the opportunity to dispel myths they may have. I am always astounded the amount of people who haven’t heard about BPD before, and those who have, will say something along the lines of “oh yeah, they have lots of personalities”. These are the opportunities I use to inform people about BPD and raise awareness.
Be a part of the BPD community, volunteer for organisations, and be a part of the wider community. Just in you being your amazing self, if it does come up about your diagnosis, then people are not seeing the diagnosis, they see you, the real you. This can help people to realise that we are all so much more than a label, mental illness, physical illness, our race, creed, religion, sexual identity and gender.
