@BlueBay I am really sorry to hear how difficult and tiring it must have been. I am sure many of us here can relate with - not being able to let our loved ones know about our struggles (I most certainly can). So, please know that we are here to support you on the forums BlueBay 💙

@BPDSurvivor Thanks, I don't feel like the self-stigma expert though! What I take self-stigma to mean is the negative or unhelpful ways we can speak to ourselves about our thoughts, feelings, and actions, which usually leads to people feeling worse about themselves. Examples I've come across in my work are people seeing themselves as 'bad,' 'unloveable,' or 'toxic' to be around.

@JulianSpectrum , well to 'fip the script', I'm glad you are not a self-stigma expert. It just means you don't practise it! 😛

I can understand what you mean by self- stigma @JulianSpectrum because I can see and hear myself doing this. I often say I hate myself because I feel that people think this of me due to my BPD and it's implications or ramifications. Thanks for asking the question @BPDSurvivor!

@BlueBay I agree. Finding someone you can establish trust with is crucial in any therapy. You can't do therapy to someone. Trust needs to be established, and for some people this happens slowly, for all sorts of reasons. Once trust is established you can do therapy with people.

@Judi9877 Hopefully we can keep breaking down the myths around BPD so that it can help to ease the self-stigma burden. Hang in there!
