yes Shaz51 we often undervalue small things in life and minfulness can help give us a reality check and allow us to see what we take for granted

I have great difficulty with this kind of activity even though I believe in it. Tonight was no exception, the fact that my dog put his head in my lap and cried for attention didn't help (yes too spoiled). I am not sure how to get over the barriers. I seemed to get agitated and give up then try to come back then get frustrated too easily. I know I have to find a way to get over it. I'm so much better with hands on mindfulness. Any suggestions

So let's do our final mindfulness practise for this evening mindful walking!
Go and take a walk for 5 minutes!
However, imagine that you are learning to walk all over again. Take small, slow and exaggerated steps. Focus on placing the left heel on the ground then the toe. Then notice the shift in weight ration from left to right as the right hip projects forward and the right heel touches the ground followed by the right toes. And then the process repeats itself. Notice each step you take and how your feet interact with your shoes (if you are wearing them) and the ground. Walk around the room or wherever you are, it might help to do so in a circle. Notice the want to change your walking pace and any other feelings or sensations you may have.

Yes sometimes we feel pins and needles in us when we sit with crossed legs. This is because our blood flow becomes a little restricted in this position - especially if we are not used to sitting like this. I assure you it is not damaging you. If we don't attach to pain with our mind, it often disappears just like you experienced. Remember there is a difference between pain and discomfort - and only you know when to act accordingly with this!

Hi Teej thanks for your honesty! Mindfulness is easy to grasp in the mind, however when we put our heart in it sometimes we can get a bit thrown around. You mention agitation and frustration. I think you have done a great job and you are practising mindfulness! So give yourself some credit. You have noticed that your mind is easily agitated and might be in the past/future a lot. This is the start of mindfulness, just noticing where your mind is in any given moment. Remember the attitudinal foundations I suggested at the start of the forum - acceptance, patience and beginners mind. Our mind is always fluctuating and it takes regular practise to bring it to the here and now.
