Adventures on Turtle Island

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

You made me a seriously cool hammock and there's always room to share it with someone else or together for a while to chat @Spookytookims. I don't want you to leave so if I can stop you before it's built I will. But I will also wish you well if you do sail off and know that your raft would be much more floatable than one I could ever build.

I just found an interesting article on 24 proposed INTP subtypes, I wish I could remember which order your trait scores were so I could read it more with you in mind. Then I found an article with an heading that got me. It's called "why INFPs are emos and ENFJs are care bears" and have to read that one, which is what I am doing now.

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

OH NO,!!   @CheerBear Grylls ,  that could lead to an identity crisis!!  you gotsta be a carebear!!

@Former-Member  I accidently found this...  it really gave me insight into you and what you have been posting about feeling misunderstood (not your word I know but it"s how I interpret it)

This is a vid by a 23 year old INFJ girl...  she seems very self aware and explains 5 probs she has relating to others, or feeling others relate to her.  I found it helped me understand you a bit more, maybe you can watch it and it might help you understand why others don't seem to get you.  she says it's because she gets others more than they get her.

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

I'm seriously freaking out (not really) at this whole thing @Spookytookims. It makes so much sense though. To be a care bear requires a level of extroversion that I don't have. Virtual Islands are cool, I can be all care-y and still be on my own in my chair with my blanket. But what about the non-vritual ocean?! Between this and my bananas F score and way lower-than before N score today, I am having a total identity crisis 😮

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

you're a cheerbear tho...  and on the island that"s exactly what you bring...  just by being you.  so maybe cheerbears are emos..  and carebears are those other ones @CheerBear

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

Ok @Spookytookims, I think your raft ride could be an episode all of it's own. But like everyone says, do it in your own time . . . in your own way.

I've written a little prelude to Turtle Island first morning, it probably doesn't go right with the story but I'll post it anyhow and hope you like it 🙂

Turtle Islands - the night before

It was a pitch black moonless night when the squall of the storm broke the great ships mast. It sounded like the crack of a giant strike of lightning, shards of wooden splinters flew like bullets in the strong swirling winds. The salt of the sea spray stung whatever skin it touched. Objects were being flung about as if to defy gravity. It was mayham.

There was no way to tell where anyone else was, full chested shouts were instantly swallowed in the din. It was a tropical paradise cruise, but the temperature dropped to artic levels. Then we become submerged, it does not feel like water but liquid ice. A few of us find ourselves clinging to the same chunk of wood, a piece of the bough perhaps.

All our eyes are drawn in the same direction, we can hear something moving in the water, we sense a fin. Numbness stops, as do our hearts, is it a shark. Without light we can not see, but we hear and feel the fin leaping from the water -but not in a attacking manner. A couple of us actually laugh when we hear the Dolphins cackle, but relief lets the chill back in.

What happens next is nothing short of a miracle, a pod of Dolphins surrounds us, gently dipping under each of us and allowing the most wonderful ride we've ever had! We see, what was so easily imagined as lights on the beachline. More relief, so much so, that the chill lessens. But it is not just the relief, the water is warming.

As we get closer to shore we see the lights are very small, party lights, fairy lights, what are these lights? The Dolphins slip away from beneath us when we are close enough for the waves to carry us to the beach, we see them swimming backwards and forwards as if watching and ensuring our safety to the shore.

We are exhausted, both physically and emotionally, is what we're seeing real? There are no lights, but glowing flowers, beautiful glowing white flowers! They have large rounded petals and bright yellow centers, they appear to be growing on vines. There are tiny orange lit fire flies buzzing busily around them. The radiating light revealing a lush, deep green rainforest.

The beach is soft and comfortable, the sand still seems to hold the warmth of the midday sun. It is strangely pleasant, considering what we've just been through; even stranger is the feeling of complete safety, just at this moment we feel like we're exactly where we are suppose to be. This place feels like home 🙂

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

Ooooh @Spookytookims

I hope you dont feel out of order for too long.  Your episodes are the best.

We dont mind twists & turns or waiting.

I think building a raft is a great idea. Would you consider doing it and still staying with us. That way we could go exploring together but have our safe haven to come back to.  Think of @CheerBear she could catch heaps of fish. We could have clambake.

Oooooh Tooky

Dont Go. Dont you think @Former-Member post was a bit like yours when you flip flopped between E & I?

You two are another duo.

Ooooh @Former-Member Great Prequel!

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

Thanks @Appleblossom

@CheerBeardid you the stuff you found relate to what I said re trauma accentuating MBTI stuff?  If so any chance of a link or posting it in here if you find any relevance to me?

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

Sure thing @Spookytookims. I will see what I still have open and whether any of it is relevant.

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

I've had a quick flick through my tabs and most of it relates to the impact stress may have on those with introverted feeling dominance which would be kind of not so useful for you and possibly even unhelpful I think @Spookytookims. I will keep my eye out though and definitely link you if I find something. Hope you are feeling a bit better soon.

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

I'm making my raft atm... I'll be ok when it's done @CheerBear  😉
