From the 11th to the 17th of October is National Carers Week π
Did you know that 1-in-8 Australians provide unpaid care and support to family members or friends with a disability, mental illness, chronic condition, terminal illness, an alcohol or other drug issue, or who are frail aged?
Carers make an enormous contribution to our community as well as our economy. National Carers Week gives everyone a chance to recognise and show their appreciation to all of the wonderful carers out there π ,thus, is an opportunity to raise community awareness about the diversity of carers and their caring roles.
Taking on a caring role could bring about many challenges and rewards to a carerβs life. However, carers often do not get the support that they need and deserve. So, on the forums, we wanted to dedicate this thread to acknowledge the vital role you all play in your loved ones' recovery journey and say thank you for everything you do. Carers matter! π
CarersNSW is also running some fantastic events for National Carers week that may be of interest to some - http://www.carersnsw.org.au/national-carers-week
