They are all linked!? What's the right diagnosis?

All up in my 12 years of mental health diagnoses I have been diagnosed with:

Anxiety, Depression, OCD, Pervasive Developmental Disorder, Eating Disorder(s), Schizophrenia, Complex PTSD, BPD and now possibly ASD...

HOW do you get the right one? How can I have ALL of these?!?!

@Katie0024

Just as there are forces which enact against our body. There are also forces which enact against our head.

These come from variations in the magnetic pole, as well as frequencies.
The forces are electricity.

We shape these forces but they are always negative, as the electricity is inherently against our head.
You shape them however.

Over the ages these things have been called the subconscious.

The sub [as opposed to the dom]
The con [as opposed to the pro]
The 'suss' [as opposed to sense]

They have been there ever since you were born. But it is only now that you are noticing them. Whereas before they were always a shadow in the background.

It's good that you have noticed the subconsuss. They are the cause for all the bad you feel.

Remember that you shape them. Learn to hate them.
And you will feel here, without the shadow.

Re: They are all linked!? What's the right diagnosis?

I would say they are pretty much all related @Katie0024 . Even my own personal experience, without going into too much, I had one underlying condition whereby all the other conditions stemmed from.

As hard as it was, once I tackled the root issue, the other conditions eventually resolved too.

Main thing, stay connected with people.

Re: They are all linked!? What's the right diagnosis?

It's rough when you get a heap of differing diagnoses.... I have almost the same list as you with a couple of differences.

My personal story is that none of the diagnoses improved my life till I found out I was Autistic, and then my whole life made sense. The other diagnoses I had were either misdiagnoses due to the psychiatrist not knowing I was Autistic and trying to fit those symptoms into a more well known box (because Autism in AFAB folks is WOEFULLY inadequately understood), or were comorbid with the Autism and most likely caused by the trauma of being an undiagnosed Autistic being forced to perform and function as neurotypical.

Now it may not be the same case for you, but for me that was the thing that just explained it all, and finally allowed me to access help that worked for MY brain (most therapies are not great for Autistic brains, so all those years of 'failing' at recovery were because it was the wrong treatment). And then a few more years down the track I also found out I have ADHD too, which filled out the last remaining details. Balancing Autism and ADHD is a whole adventure of its own.

Re: They are all linked!? What's the right diagnosis?

A lot of the posts in this thread are similar to my experiences.  I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression in my late teens, then with obsessive-compulsive disorder when I was 21.  At some point avoidant personality disorder was added to my list.  Nothing ever really seemed to entirely fit, nor did any of the treatments for them help as much as I wanted.  Last year a new specialist assessed me as being autistic and a lot of self-understanding fell into place for me.

Hey @ProggyPanther  - Welcome to the forums! Good on you for reaching out!

Like many, I think there have been many instances whereby people get diagnosed and misdiagnosed until the root issue surfaces. Then, as therapy works with the underlying condition, other symptoms eventually resolve themselves? Do you think so?

I'm interested to hear about how you feel about having an autism diagnosis (only if you feel comfortable responding).

Re: They are all linked!? What's the right diagnosis?

Hi @tyme, thank you for the welcome.  Glad to be here 😊

To answer your questions, I am sure therapy eventually brings out the correct diagnosis in most cases.  But for me I had to push for an ASD assessment myself, and unfortunately my then psychologist and psychiatrist did not support me in that.  It took a lot of personal courage and research to make the step.  I didn't feel I had much choice though.  As my kids get older they are showing autistic behaviour that I realised I did too as a kid.  I felt I had to get properly assessed as a first step to avoid them getting stuck on the same diagnostic rollercoaster that I did.

As for how I feel about the diagnosis... that's a bit thorny.  I have times when I think I was happier not knowing the truth.  I had a burnout a few months after the diagnosis due to all the feelings it dredged up.  Having to move on from my previous therapists who I'd seen for many years was also devastating.  But I am constantly learning new coping skills and knowledge both myself and from the psychologist who assessed me and I think once I get past the growing pains I will be in a much better place than I was before.
