Re: Henry's Landing Strip & Hangar

Hello  @Former-Member , and@Appleblossom

@Mumi , It is difficult when we have issues or information that cause us significant distress, but we feel, for any of a number of reasons, that we are unable to request the assistance of others in dealing with and coping with that distress and anguish. I'm sorry that you seem to be in that situation at the present time @Mumi . The distractions often do not work because we are consciously trying to avoid thinking about something, that we must necessarily think of, in our attempts to avoid the thoughts. A type of circular pattern of thoughts. Sometimes, I find that it helps to bring the person or event closer to our present mental space and, if we are able, to think of pleasant thoughts that involve the other person or event.

The strong coffee and raisin toast sounds good. One of my favourites. Thank you for the reference to the planes @Mumi .

@Appleblossom , I like the graphics of the eagles. Over here, in the long distances between towns, two or three hours between some, eagles are sometimes seen feeding on the creatures that have not avoided being hit by cars or trucks. Travellers are asked to blow the horn as they are approaching to alert the birds to the danger as they approach. Some people remove carcasses, where possible and practical, off the road in order to reduce the possible threat to eagles.

With Best Wishes to You Both

@HenryX

Re: Henry's Landing Strip & Hangar

Now I know why I see that message with the struck through. S . It occurs when an empty message box is posted. Just for explanation, I wanted to get the message that appears below the message box about incorrect HTML thingy, but it didn't work. But I now have the answer to the other question.

Cheers, @HenryX

Hello

@CapnWannabe@Rosemary4@lovec@Mystickate@eth , @InfiniteStress , @Dimity , @wellwellwellnez@still_bookish , @nony , @EssJay , @Eve7, @StuF , @Gwynn , @Tinker67 , @wild_rose@BlueBay , @Former-Member , @Shaz51, @Appleblossom , @Emelia8@Anastasia  , @Mazarita , @greenpea , @Peri , @Clawde, @chibam , @outlander , @AussieRecharger , @Snowie , @Faith-and-Hope , @Alicat@Meowmy@Judi9877 , @Former-Member , @Sophia1 , @frog , @jem80 , @BPDSurvivor , @Daisydreamer , @cloudcore , @Former-Member , @Paperdaisy , @Former-Member , @Jynx , @TideisTurning

There are two reasons that I have extended an invitation to this thread, generally referred to as the "Hangar".

Firstly, I've invited to the thread, some newer members, some I have only met briefly and others I've had contact with over a longer period of time. The idea is for forum members to have a look at this space and see if it might suit them in terms of the "environment" that they might enjoy, which offers something different from other social and category specific threads on the site. If it looks like a place in which you might enjoy conversations with others or the opportunity to discuss more personal issues or concerns, then I would like this thread to be a place where you will be able to feel comfortable. As you will see, it is a place that I like to refer to as "topic and gender inclusive". There has been a bit of conversation recently about aspects of the thread and it may be worthwhile having a look through to acquaint yourselves with that discussion.

Secondly, I would appreciate you looking through the following notes and tips on preparing and posting comments and replying to posts from other members, to see if there is anything that I have misspelled, missed out or have noted incorrectly. Please let me know if you think there may be any alterations made that would make the details more clear.

P.S.

I have added the following tips which I hope will be of help in using the functions of the forum. If you have any problems just ask from wherever you are and someone should be able to assist. They will make more sense as you become familiar with the site.

Posting a Comment and Replying to Another Post
When you want to reply to a post with someone's forum address, eg @Freddofrog  or @HenryX
forum name  =   HenryX        forum address =   @ + HenryX        =  @HenryX
forum Name  =   Freddofrog  forum address =   @ + Freddofrog @Freddofrog
  1. Click the REPLY oval to the bottom right of the post to which you intend replying
  2. With the cursor in the Reply box, type the "@" symbol {without quotation marks / inverted commas} This will open a drop down menu with up to five or six forum addresses of people who have commented in the thread in which you wish to post a reply
  3. The @ symbol cannot be adjacent to any other letter or symbol, in front of, or behind, in order for the dropdown menu to appear  P@; = X     P  @  ;J  = ✔
  4. Selecting a forum address from the list will automatically enter that forum address into the reply box and in turn, will send an alert to the person concerned, when the message is posted, which will appear in their "Your Notifications" page-list.
  5. Repeat steps 2 to 4 to include additional forum address entries into the reply box
  6. Enter the comment that you wish to offer, then click POST once, and click POST again. {Two POST clicks are normally required. If the comment does not post on the second click, check above and below the reply box for Error Messages.
  7. There is often a message below the reply box regarding an "invalid HTML" { - see 8. below.} That message can normally be ignored unless it changes to read a different message. The message just seems to be stuck there, for no apparent reason, but can be confusing.
  8. Ignore this message:  "   Your post has been changed because invalid HTML was found in the message body. The invalid HTML has been removed. Please review the message and submit the message when you are satisfied.  "

Accessing and Responding to "Your Notifications"

Toward the top right of the forum page, to the right of Guidelines & Info, is placed the word New .

  1. Clicking on the word New will open your "Your Notifications" page
  2. The "Your Notifications" page displays a list of notifications, addressed to you, where another member has entered your forum address to alert you to their message, or that have been posted by other members in threads to which you have also posted, or in which you have been active or have subscribed to the thread
  3. In the "Your Notifications" page, Left click on the link, which will be displayed like this; " Re: Henry's Landing Strip & Hangar " {with the prefix Re: but without quotation marks / inverted commas} to open the link and the included message in the same browser TAB as the "Your Notifications" browser TAB, or
  4. Right click on the displayed link to open the link and message in a new browser TAB
  5. If there are a number of message alerts, I find it easier to open two or three of them in new browser TABs
  6. However, if you see this timeout message, don't panic:

    Authentication Failed.

    Authentication Ticket Mismatched, failed authentication.

    • Copy the whole of the message that you have typed into the reply box to your clipboard, refresh ⟳ the page  {top left of browser window}, and then paste the copied message back into the reply box; complete the message and click POST once, and click POST again.

When you are copying from the reply box, before refreshing, I believe that forum addresses do "copy and paste" back into the same refreshed reply box properly, as active links.

{The process above is what I had to do with this message because I took so long to write the message. That is when the dreaded "Authentication Failed" message most often appears}

Another way of avoiding the dreaded "Authentication Failed" when writing longer messages, is to write the message in your word processor {Microsoft Word, Appache OpenOffice Writer, etc} and then "copy and paste" the text, from the word processor document, into the reply box.

Caution: I believe that forum addresses do not copy and paste properly from the word processor, so it is best to enter all forum addresses directly into the reply box when using a word processor for your draft copy.

That should complete the message process unless there are any other error messages that require attention.

Cheers @HenryX
