Re: Good Morning!

OMG @TAB thats a bit much. Weather not much better here really

@Oaktree I went to Moomba once. Had a person I knew from Brazil who immigrated to Australia and their parade was like something I had never seen before. Sat down with a friend and watched Carnivale and it was the most incredible thing I had ever seen. It was originally founded by someone may have been a religious leader who wanted to give the populace something to do throughout the year to combat apathy, poverty etc. This was before the internet obviously but Carnivale used to be quite amazing. It has to be seen to be believed. The show these people put on would take a whole year to prepare.

Re: Good Morning!

Good morning @tonys  🙂🌺

couldn’t agree more ..I felt most happy and free when I had a home on wheels that had just the basics a person needs.
I did spend some time just with my motorbike and a swag (both in Au and in Europe), living totally free from the constraints of societal demands.. some of the best times of my life.
And I couldn’t agree more that this teaches us much about ourselves, including our home is in our own skin ☺️🌺

I do relate to adding layers between an environment that is becoming more and more unfamiliar.. during most recent years, society has become difficult to fathom, I feel, and the things we focus on as a society don’t add much value to what should be (with the technologies we currently have) a nice place to live.
If a person needs to question their future, their safety, and has to consistently strive for wellbeing, rather than these things being built in to our existence in societies, we have drastic changes that must be made to support that fundamental security of self.
The term human rights is a paradox: if we already have ‘fundamental’ human rights, then why do we have to fight to get access to them? This contradiction actually means imho and view that we actually don’t have any fundamental rights as humans, and that we must spend time and energy and expense in attempting to assert fundamental human rights in a system where by default we start with next to none, and it’s by fame, fortune or friends that our rights are granted gratis instead of fought for and earned along with the scars to prove it.
I think this notion is demonstrated by the functions and actions of our policing, legal, medical, and social systems, that work hard to in many different ways control the people - not what I’d consider the definition of freedom or fundamental human rights. To achieve rights often we need to seek an exception to the rules..which just seems like a conceptual oxymoron to me.
Anyway, just the musings of a Sunday morning..☺️🌺

I hope you have a lovely day 🦩🙂🌺

Re: Good Morning!

Morning @tonys 😊

I'm alright thanks. Concerned about my 91yo Dad who has just had a week in Hospital after getting ulcerated legs and an infection. Was very unwell for a while, but on the improve now. He normally lives with my younger brother and his family on their farm down on the Southern Tablelands / South West Slopes. But he has not regained his strength yet and unable to stand or walk unaided at this stage.  So he is in a nursing home for a months respite where he will hopefully recuperate enough to enable him to get home again. I would visit,  but its a 7 hour drive. And I have so many medical appointments coming up. Its hard.

Yes puppy school is fun. You certainly get a wide assortment of puppies and owners 😂

Yesterday we did some fun stuff - blue tunnels to run through, hoops to jump over,  poles to run around,  etc. Hannah loved it. It was strange,  some puppies wouldnt have a bar of it, yet I couldnt drag Hannah away.

Hope you are doing okay @tonys . You often ask how everyone else is,  but rarely say how you personally really are. 🌹

Re: Good Morning!

No worries at all @Former-Member 🙂🌺

In terms of work, I kind of fell into it - I was studying at uni in an unrelated field back then, and needed a job, which ended up being quite an interesting series of jobs in the respiratory/sleep area. Most of what I did was self-taught and learned from reading technical manuals on the equipment I was working with (the stuff that the public doesn’t get access to read, which describes in detail all the working parameters, treatment protocols, and functional applications of the equipment).
I was going to formalise my sleep related qualifications by only sitting exams with an educational institution, however I started to become unwell before I could do that. That never mattered though - I knew lots of stuff so I had a good reputation in the industry at that time.
Sleep medicine/industry is very interesting, and has a significant impact on the wellbeing of people directly, so you can see how much difference your contribution has in someone’s life - it’s very rewarding in that regard. And supporting good breathing at night can reduce the significant risks of very serious diseases and health complications - critical to a persons life trajectory over decades into the future.. kind of like the premise of Sliding Doors… have you seen that movie? Talking about how little things can change lots into the future (not the plot, which is based in a romantic comedy context).
With regards to selling cheaper thermoplastic self-moulding mouthguards, they’re better suited to treating bruxing (teeth grinding/jaw clenching at night while asleep which usually leads to headaches, jaw pain and can lead to tooth damage)…not really related to obstructive breathing issues…and hence why it’s helpful in bruxing because it opens the jaw slightly at the rotational axis of the temporomandibular joint (the action of opening the mouth), while providing something less dense for the teeth to clench against. Very different principles of action when compared to a mandibular advancement device which treats some forms of airway obstruction by moving the lower jaw forward in relation to the upper jaw, thus increasing the space available at the back of the lower jaw, resulting in less soft tissue obstruction by the tongue. Importantly, the hinge-action of opening the mouth is different to the forward displacement of the lower jaw, when considering soft tissue obstruction at the pharynx (back of the mouth extending to the top of the throat and lower back bit of the nasal cavity).
That’s pretty much the key differences between a thermoplastic do it yourself mouth device, and the MAD mouth device.

The study of astrology I know next to nothing about - your description of your study of the movements sounds fascinating and very complex; did it take a lot of time to learn?

I have a piece of amethyst here at home, which I bought many years ago. It’s around 20cm by 30cm, and I bought it because it’s quite beautiful.
