Thanks for getting back to me @Former-Member
I did see a post like this below. They were promoting an over the counter MAD worth over $100 which obviously does not have the appropriate correctness of fit as you said. It makes you wonder doesn't it - these quick fix solutions that don't necessarily work?
Here is the link I saw from an online sleep doctor before you replied back: https://sleepdoctor.com/best-anti-snoring-mouthpieces-and-mouthguards/mandibular-advancement-device/
The reason why I am asking all this is because I had apnoea when I was taking a Martin & Pleasance tissue salt spray with ethanol in it. The apnoea started the same time I began treatment with the spray so I looked up the link between ethanol and apnoea and yes there was a link. The apnoea went away after I stopped taking the tissue salts.
So yes I did have a brief case of apnoea myself in a short space of time
It certainly makes sense about companies devouring other companies for greater market share, we used to call it backward integration - adding more and more products to your arsenal so you have everything someone would need lol!
Anyway I learned something new today. Obviously a well fitted MAD is no cheaper. Seems like your patients had a combination of both CPAP and MAD which is a good idea for flexible options.
I can't imagine the level of nightly distress these people go through. I would wake up without breathing. I would catch myself in a lull as if my airways had collapsed and I couldn't draw air in to breathe.
Thankfully it resolved itself so I cannot complain but it gave me an inkling of understanding of what its like for someone with this condition which is why I have been showing more interest in CPAP and MAD devices.

I feel for those of you who are sweltering in the heat currently @TAB 💦 and hoping for a relieving cooler change soon.
Hahaha 😂 @tonys my Hannah 🐶 didnt have to wake me. We were at puppy school early afternoon! And poor little Hannah is looking like a typical little gap toothed schoolgirl. She lost the first of her puppy teeth over the last two days. A couple of her bottom incisors. The rest of them will no doubt go over coming days or weeks, followed by those lethal little canines. Yes!!!
Reasonably pleasant weather here, around 28-29C. I'm lucky.

Hey there @Former-Member 🙂🌺
The gold standard in MAD’s is full custom using a reputable brand/fitter so you know it’ll last and not cause jaw/tooth issues, I tend to think 🙂
Thanks for sharing the article 🙂 there’s a fair bit in there that isn’t clarified (for instance, the severity of OSA doesn’t determine whether a MAD will be sufficient to treat; it’s all about the anatomy of someone’s soft palate and upper airway, and the function of that area, while they are sleeping…someone can have mild OSA but need high pressure CPAP because a MAD isn’t suitable …it’s all about the structure and function of someone’s airway, and not how many times they are having obstructions - which is what determines if OSA is mild, moderate or severe; it’s all about the number of obstructions, which in no way determines efficacy of a type of treatment)☺️
It’s really distressing at times to live with untreated OSA, or CSA (clear-airway sleep apnoea - the people who need a ventilator due to muscles not working to make them breathe), for sure, as well as having numerous health impacts that can be serious 🌺
I’m glad I could bring something new to the table in your search for info 🙌🏻☺️🌺🤗

Thanks @Former-Member its certainly an education and worthy of investigation. If I ever need to know anything about CPAP or MAD I will be informed.
How did you get into this line of work may I ask? Are you a sleep doctor or some type of technician trained in respiratory or a dentist? I wonder what educational entry point you would need to go into such a profession. You've been in somewhat of a niche.
Thank you for sharing all that information! It makes you wonder why they sell those cheap MAD knockoffs when you can get the right product that is properly fitted to the shape of your mouth.
I don't know what I'm doing for the rest of the day. Have been analysing the astrological placements for next week. Apart from looking at the whole week I happened to notice unfortunately we have a first quarter Moon forming a 90 degree angle with Neptune next week on Sunday (not tomorrow on Sunday, next week on Sunday 17th) which lasts a little more than over a week
Its going to be a difficult energy with very little inner peace and stability to come by. Highlighted themes of sensitivity and difficulties maintaining internal equilibrium, mainly due to strange and intruding thoughts and feelings which come and go under this angle.
I usually work with crystals to align with the energy. Have a piece of Labradorite which enables you to properly harness your intuition which is normally lost under the influence of the distortive nature of Neptune.
Labradorite is known as the "matriarch of the subconscious" from a crystal book I have. It goes on to say "it uses inner messages, like clarity and inner sight" which would be lost under this Moon/Neptune lunation with the confusing and dissolving nature of Neptune.
I like the fact Labradorite just gives so much inner peace and you are totally unperturbed with this crystal and it also eliminates toxic thoughts that would plague people under a sky like this.
Labradorite also does a great job at washing away insecurity and worries and getting rid of anything that obscures clear thought patterns that blur perceptions
So it synthesizes the chaotic elements presented by this 90 degree Moon/Neptune angle through cultivating peace and stability while being aware of the distortions in perception and unhealthy escapism
Its going to be difficult facing this somewhat unforgiving angle for over a week which I sense can make you feel left totally wide open and vulnerable.
So I'm getting out my Labradorite crystal now and charging it under my copper pyramid for a week so its ready to use come the first quarter Moon squaring Neptune. We'll see how we go with it.
Do you work with crystals or are you into astrology?

I lived in Melbourne for a couple of years as a young kid. I have fun memories of Moomba
