Re: Good Morning!

Thats good to know about 10kva generators. I've just taken down some notes @TAB I wonder how many days it lasts for and how much petrol it guzzles. I may have to start talking with some companies again on chat and see what they have to say. I noticed a local lawnmower place selling Honda generators so they are just around the corner so servicing is accessible. Have been tossing up between Bunnings and that other local company. Still undecided. Yeah saw Tesla Power Wall, they are quiet but like Tesla cars you wonder if the battery is going to blow up. I don't have the money for a Tesla but have seen cars sponaenously combusting with electrical batteries so its a bit of an aversion wjen it comes to Tesla tech.

Re: Good Morning!

@TAB my dad is a Vietnam Vet, nuff said.

Before his health declined I was going to be my dads' carer and one of the options was for me to move to NSW where he is. I had planned on driving across in my ASX, the cat on the passenger seat howling the whole way and visiting interesting places. Both parents told me there was no way on Gods' green earth they'd let me do the trip alone but it was fun while I thought about it. I think the only time I wish I had a husband is to do things like that with so probably good I'm single!

My mum and I drove back from Broome to Perth and took our time so we could stop at out of the way places. It was one of my favourite trips.

Qld I could take or leave, haven't seen enough of SA and I'd be happy enough to travel through NSW and Vic again as it's been a minute since I've been to either state.

Re: Good Morning!

Fair enough @ENKELI my father was in German Army in russia in WW2  . Trying to please him pretty pointless task lol

whats an ASX?

poor cat. yeah seems to be subcategory on here of people who 'were going to car for parent' .. me included. just that i never told them . So glad it did not happen though. I was inbetween jobs, had nowhere to stay , thought oh , I'll just go back there and become carer lol

Travelling on  your own can be easier (?) only have to deal with own stuff lol.

@Former-Member  tesla powerwall is just a battery ??

Re: Good Morning!

@TAB wow, my hat goes off to you. That definitely would have been a task, trying to please father.

ASX - it's a compact Mitsubishi 4WD. I call her Paris because it's the closest I'll ever get to being in Paris.

My dad asked me to be his carer when stepmonster had a brain bleed last year. Because he has PTSD and COPD he needs someone to look after him. At the time I was forced to resign from my job so it looked like it was a win win situation. Unfortunately his health became worse and he's now in aged care with the worlds' most miserable woman on earth and I am now stuck with my MH declining and the need for full time employment becoming an urgent requirement.

I travelled North America for 3 months on my own and had no trouble at all, catching public transport and walking for miles when I got lost in Vancouver. Mum was apprehensive but knew she couldn't stop me from going. I think the biggest worry driving across country is if something big happened to the car or it broke down miles from nowhere and no mobile coverage.

I would prefer to travel with a companion only for someone to talk to as my cat isn't one for conversation.

Re: Good Morning!

Thank you @Former-Member It's helpful that I feel heard by you.

Yes a lot sounds or seems not right.

The sense of injustice is emotionally wearing me out (especially having Complex PTSD).

At this stage I don't feel I have options left - As the DES Job Provider have ignored all of my complaints.

They are the ones who wanted me to take this job.

Re: Good Morning!

@TAB I'm lead to believe it uses solar power from your roof and stores it in the Tesla Power Wall for backup power. I could be wrong. It wasn't something I was interested in buying because of cost - have looked at so many ideas to generate electricity during rolling blackouts. You may have to check it out if you want more info.  Did see one dude with 3 Tesla Power Walls in his garage in an article in The Age. The only good thing is they don't require petrol and they don't make noise. I paid off the solar power almost. The government loan deductions are still going. Paid off the Plenti Loan however. So thats one less thing to worry about

Re: Good Morning!

sounds tough @ENKELI . well not sure how can be a carer when they are in a home, but theres the other carer payment  that is not means tested and nowhere near as much. yes money is always a problem. thats good re trip to US. I got a new passport not long ago, there's always hope it will get used lol

Re: Good Morning!

No worries @TAB  - all the best with it 🙂

Re: Good Morning!

Well,   will you look at that.  First chance I have had to log on today and the   'Kudos'   has become 'supported' .  I hope my rotten sense of humour was the demise of  "kudos"    NaaahhHH ,   now that's just vanity. Mind you,  I do like the word supported.  I think its a corner stone of Sane.    But for the support

from them and most others I cross paths with,  I would not have emerged from my walking comma.

@Former-Member   @TAB .  I only use powder milk now that I no longer have my cows.  I mix a little

flaxseed oil with into a paste and it makes my hot drinks taste creamy. . .    Generators you ask.

*  Generators..   I have a Honda 2 kva inverter generator .   It just handles the spike on my inverter

split system  "bedroom"   air con,  and once its kicked over,  Handles the job fine for a day or two,  till the power is restored.   It can run for 6 to 8 hours on 2 ltrs of petrol if I am just charging battery bank

or running fridge and lights.  The air con is the biggest load.   Back at the farm,  I had the house wired up the same way as a motor home or boat.  12 volt   LED lighting and  little inverters next to every

appliance that needed 240 volt.  Most people   Just have one large inverter next to the battery bank.

Diesel generators,  are of course better.  The engines are stronger because the fuel is more explosive

and efficient.  For me,  the king would be a diesel  '  Marine'  generator,   Onan or Perkins,  but they are big bucks...    I had the Honda for 22 years before it died.   Anything with an engine manufactured

in    Japan..  is quality.

I would like to put that system on my new place but my bills don't really justify the outlay.

$80 dollars of usage over 3 months is the highest my bill has been in this place.  It is on 3 phase

power,  but I often think I have a dodgy power mtr,  because none of us are careful with power use

and the bills just seem,  too cheap,  for a house that doesn't have solar fitted yet.

I'm holding out for the new sodium batteries. I won't be having solar that is connected to the grid,  but that's a topic for a longer post.

I urge anyone to go and have a look at the set ups on large,  off road,   motor homes, or live aboard boats .  They run every appliance a house does and never have a power bill and are not connected by wires to a government,  or a business with share holders,  that can just change the rules on you.

So,   I should have first asked how is everyone.    Hope you all,  faced down,  the challenges of the day.   I have to wash the day off me and eat.  Will try and get back later.

take care everyone.  @ENKELI   @greenpea   @Former-Member   @StuF  @Oaktree  @Glisten  @Emelia8 n Hannah

I know. .   Generators..   boring . .!    but thought I better say hi,  in  case I don't get back later.     tonys

.

Re: Good Morning!

yeah its a battery not  generator. generator is cheapest way to get power. could get deep cycle batteries, they last a few days think. and can get boxes to put them in so can plug things like usbs straight into it.

https://www.4wdsupacentre.com.au/adventure-kings-battery-box-12v-2x-usb-cig-socket.html?gad_source=1...

couldnt run a/c  could run a tv and a fridge. my little tv would run off that if had the right connector. as it is just a transformer that plugs into the wall socket. tv itself like 12V
