Hey @TAB make sure you clean your filters out on your aircon regularly as they can collect dust and your system won't work. On a cooler day open the unit and gently pull out the filters. I don't know if you have a ladder but you can easily use something called a "step" from Bunnings. You stand on its like an aeorobics step but not as wide. You should be able to reach your unit by standing on the step. The step usually has gripping on the base so it won't slide across the floor for safety. But you gotta learn to clean your filters. I don't know what type of aircon system you got but with mine you open at the sides lift the lid and will see small filters which you slide out. You wouldn't think its a problem but mine collected a bit of dust and would not work on a particular day. Check the instruction book if its there or online specifications on how to clean the filters. Its easy to do and not rocket science. You just lightly brush the dust off, you can wet them but they must be dry before going in. They must be cleaned very regularly. I did not think it would affect me but it did. You don't want to be without aircon

Thanks @Former-Member not looked. Have ladders. Did old friends one few months ago. they are all similar
Its a low powered split. Made 6 yrs ago so not too bad. Bit noisy. Its not icy but w ceiling fan effect is ok. Will cover outside part as well so it doesnt pull hot air from direct sunlight

Wow @Former-Member .. you put a lot of work into that post, I'm still chipping away at the links.
Wish the glass slipper was a fit, but anything I may have had, the brain injury washed away. I'm no savant . . You,
however, . . . I'm not so sure about. A comet that glows so bright. When the floorshow ends, without even taking a bow, what happens to you in the cold dark silence of space. Can something that burns so bright, burn long. I read you and often ask myself, and what of you.
I did pick up a guitar and do busk n write a few tunes. It was just enough to keep me from the , ell fresco
offerings from the skip bin bistro. But . . if I was going to make it. . . I'd have made it. Its All good
Some are bestowed with a bounty of gifts, me I'm bestowed with but one. I can salvage a joy in the discarded detritus of despair that is the downfall of many . I can snuggle into my mind, pull a doona of clouds over my eyes and
still find a smile as my ship settles next to the Titanic. Like the islanders, before Cook sprung the 'covet what you see trap', with bible, beads n mirror's, I have the gift of knowing no better.
I have learned to regress to 'islander' when threat, famine or adversity challenge. My wake is littered with the bones of those who didn't make it. My headlights filled with spooked deer, blinded n groping for hope. In a world gone mad, ignorance is bliss. Long as its raining, I'll clutch my sodden gift. Placebo happiness, is still happy..
You all have wonderful gifts.. Let them be sole consumer of your energy's

Wish the best for you all. tonys

Thats good to know @TAB wasn't aware you finally got a ladder. My step fits into tight spaces and is easy to carry around compared to a ladder. I usually keep my thermostat at 22 degrees for cooling. It keeps it running efficiently and my bills don't spike. I learned this from an environmental scientist years ago when I had a portable aircon. You won't be slugged with a huge electricity bill after summer is over. Keeping it any lower than that is not going to cool your place any further only racking up more electricity costs. Just mentioning if you didn't know. My electricity bills the past few years remained the same over a whole year and weren't any higher over summer!

Interesting, @tonys. I only asked because I don't enjoy reading. I always consume textbooks when I'm studying, but literature is just not for me. Technology has been my saviour. I can benefit from short excerpts from multiple sources and build up a body of knowledge I'm happy with. I wish I enjoyed broad range reading, but what one loses on the swing one gains on the roundabout I've found. Because I don't enjoy reading, I have compensated by learning by observation and discussion—even one-sided 'discussion' as with YouTube. I had wondered if your skill as a raconteur had developed for the same reason.
I came to education later in life and have tried not to stop, in one way or another, ever since. However, I have never found my niche in life, not with people nor with employment. I have dabbled in sales, nursing, clerical work, and have done a number of courses, but even now couldn't find my niche. Fortunately, I'm retired and don't have to, but I still give it thought. Paramedic or the like might provide me with a good career if I was starting my life over.
