DnD interest chat

Alright @Jynx , saving others from our random off-topic chats taking over 😋 and of course inviting any other like-minded forumites or curious minds.

Your friends HeroForge mini printed well! Hmm maybe I should consider trying one out... but then I wouldn't use my polymer-clay figure which is in similar style to the others in the group... but I did notice they have an Irish Wolfhound, and a horse.. so maybe I should try an animal or an unusual species instead...

You got me looking at other DnD minis that are created for my bambu printer 😅 so i have send a few ideas to my DM so he can pick what he might like for the upcoming storylines.

for those joining the chat - I'm relatively new to DnD. I've been doing it with a small group of also-learners for about 2 years, but we go very slowly 😅 and we also do it in sign language which adds some interesting visuals and "nicknames" for monsters lol.

my bunch are very "creative" and we play with a little flexible rules as long as we can justify it and it does not skew the game. e.g. we have captured wild animals to take home to farm or keep as pets (chickens = eggs). because... why not?

My character will always try to talk a monster into not being aggressive, often to try to barter with it or even better to get it to fight *with* us rather than against us.   ....problem is... my character is not charismatic. But it is an intimidating dwarf, so threats work a tad better lol.

chat free, tell me your stories. Tell me your characters.

Printed any 3d minis? tell me tips!

Aww yay love it @AlwaysMyself!!

Gonna tag @The-red-centaur cos I know they're a D&D lover too!

My old DM made us tiny health potions and even made dice towers!! Was amazing what he could do with it - be curious to see what you come up with!!

He even made this cute lil d20 holder 😋

Still gotta paint it but to do so I'd need to buy paints, and apparently they right paints are NOT cheap! 😅

I actually wanted to start a D&D game on the forums at one point. Alas I think I bit off more than I could chew because I quickly realised it would be a LOT of work to try to make it work in this space. But hey if someone else feels like they could make it happen, I'd be so down!

Re: DnD interest chat

I'd totally be a part of a forum DnD game *nods*. And i guess if someone needs an absence from the forum (delayed response) then their character is just stunned a turn or else is off having a jolly time at the tavern for a short bit 😋. We make up such excuses in our games when someone isnt able to come for a while - currently our monk has "run off with a barrel of brandy and left us all" 😉. It allows us to continue the game whilst not putting any pressure on their need to return to continue our game.

I love that dice holder! 🥰

Maybe my friends need a proper dice jail... 🤔 and then something like that for a "dice throne" for when it rolls well??

Psychology of dice. Very important stuff. 😉

Look forward to hearing from @The-red-centaur if they're interested. 😁😊🥰.

Ps @Jynx , the paint --- honestly i dont think you need to buy the expensive ones. I have both some expensive ones and some normal acrylic paints. I recommend using a plastic-primer paint first to help the paint stick though, whichever paints you use.

If you like the thin watery texture of the expensive ones (flows into model cracks easier and more even), you can water down acrylics too.

The biggest benefit i find of the expensive ones is that they have such a big colour range i can get the exact shade i like and i dont have to try to remix the colour later when its run out or dried up (which is a problem when mixing my own colours).

I do like the size 000 brushes that you can buy though, and i do find the more expensive ones last longer of them.

Re: DnD interest chat

@AlwaysMyself Some of the things I was thinking about was like... how do we do dice rolls? Honour system? What about battle maps, stuff that really needs the visual component? Unless DM is literally in charge of all of it - which is a very big job. But hey if you can pull it off, it could be really fun!!

Especially with the little stories haha 'off with a barrel of rum' gave me a good chuckle!!

Yes the dice gods are fickle at times hey!! I've seen some very cute dice jails on like etsy and such, but now I wanna go look for dice thrones!! Though the dragon hoard should suffice for now ahaha

TY for the advice re: paints!! Once I get my crafting space sorted I might have to start experimenting! 😁
