Peer Group Chat // Let’s Get Creative! // Thursday 8th June 2023, 7-8:30PM AEST

Hello!

On Thursday 8th of June 2023, we will be holding a Peer Group Chat on the topic of Let’s Get Creative!

Being creative can be a good source of general self-care and wellbeing, and it can also be used as a coping strategy in terms of finding new ways to navigate different situations. Because sometimes, you have to get a bit creative and think outside the box!

The event start times across Australia are below:

Western Australia: 5pm
Northern Territory & South Australia: 6:30pm

Queensland, New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory, Victoria & Tasmania: 7pm

For anyone unfamiliar with Peer Group Chats, each focuses on a specific topic and is guided by Peer Workers with lived experience of mental health issues and recovery, &/or caring for someone with complex mental health. A counsellor is also present as a moderator to help ensure a safe environment for individuals and the group. It is a space for us as peers to share our stories and experiences, and connect with those who are going through something similar.

Anyone is welcome to join! Tagging some members who may be interested below:

You can join our Peer Group Chats every Thursday from 7:00-8:30pm (AEDT). Check out the FAQs page for more information.

We hope to see you there 😊 If you can't make it but are interested, you can always catch up reading the transcript afterwards here. We also invite you to continue the conversation below on this thread if you can't make the night but also wish to contribute some of your responses. Re: Peer Group Chat // Let’s Get Creative! // Thursday 8th June 2023, 7-8:30PM AEST

my experience of challenges and barriers to creative thinking is the same as standard thinking: that is to say, in times of emotional overwhelm I am so far out of reach from the thinking resource...it's like a misnomer. Let alone to think creatively!

There has been the rare occasion where I've been able to circumvent the thinking process by means of mechanical initiative. Times when I've just behaved my way ahead into the day...the thinking comes subsequent to that.

Re: Peer Group Chat // Let’s Get Creative! // Thursday 8th June 2023, 7-8:30PM AEST

Hi everyone,

Creative thinking can also be thought of and/or referred to as ‘out of the box’ thinking. But, to be able to think outside the box, we first need to know what the box is, right? This talk may help explain what may make up the theoretical ‘box’ you’re facing.  So, with that in mind, what I’m curious to hear from all of you is; what boxes might exist for you in your life that you may need to think outside of? Then, if you're so inclined, how could you think outside that box you've identified? What might it look like?

@Kyle1 @Shaz51 @Historylover @Snowie @tonys @Jacques @Oaktree @Captain24 @Birdofparadise8 @creative_writer @CloudBerry & anyone else who'd like to contribute, keen to hear your thoughts on this!
