So I went to Spotlight today as their yarns were on special... and I walked out with a big bag with a lot of wool in it. Whoops. I also got a ball of Lion brand Wool-Ease, which is a super chunky yarn (at least twice the size of 14 ply) with 10% wool in it and the rest acrylic and rayon. I got that because I'm making my brother a beanie from a different pattern, here: https://www.allfreeknitting.com/Mens-Knit-Hats/Harrisons-Ribbed-Hat which should cover his ears well in case of cold. I think it looks a bit denser even when it's on the needles, so here's hoping it doesn't turn out too lacy. @Judi9877 , I also showed my mother the stallion 8 ply pattern and she's talked me into trying to knit it after the beanie - do you have any tips on this?

Hi there @Gwynn @HopefulWarrior @Peri @BlueBay @Eve7 and all knitting forumites here. I hope you are safe and well and enjoying your knitting, just like I am🧶☺️
@Gwynn I read that you're looking at starting the Stallion blanket that I posted a while back for your Mum. Good on you! The best tip I can give is take it easy and don't rush things! Have a counter of some sorts as well to keep track of your rows as I know some pattens go in rows of 4 or 8. If you want to, I can continue to extend my Wellness Blanket and make it larger so I can knit it along with you. That means we can discuss the patterns on the forums here if you like?
I'm also knitting a charity blanket for a male recipient in different colours with 220 stitches on 4mm needles that I started on Monday and so far, I'm enjoying it. I'm using colours that I'm not a fan of so they are going to go to good use which is a win for all involved!
Have fun!

Hi @Gwynn and everyone here!
I definitely understand your feelings about knitting patterns and multiples of stitches and rows. They can be complicated at times when compared to knitting a scarf! Keep going though as I'm sure you'll work it out. It will make you a better knittter so keep preserving with it. I believe you can do this!
I've just gone back to knitting a beanie tonight as it's cold here in Melbourne and I wanted to knit something for the charity I knit for. I thought someone might appreciate a warm beanie so that's what I've been up to. I find the pattern so simple to knit and so calming and relaxing at the same time, except for the rib section where I need to focus on the knitting and purling of 106 stitches!
Enjoy your knitting!

Hi @Gwynn and all who pass through,
I think your doing great @Gwynn and like @Judi9877 persistence is key I honestly prefer crochet though I love crocheting dresses and jackets for my son and nieces and nephews. I also crochet blankets, scarves and toy animals.
But if I had to choose something to knit it would be one piece charity bears I did 60 of them one year for the children's ward at the hospital I also crocheted and sewed little jackets/outfits. Loved watching the kids go through the boxes picking a teddy then an outfit was a good Christmas that year.

Hi @Gwynn @HopefulWarrior @Former-Member @Peri @BlueBay and all knitters here. I hope you have been having fun knitting items!
As I'm in lockdown here in Victoria for a week, I've just started knitting more beanies again to help me cope with the stress and anxiety of the situation. See below for a beanie I just finished earlier today for NAIDOC week.
Enjoy your knitting forumites!

Hi @Former-Member @Gwynn @HopefulWarrior @Peri @BlueBay @Daisydreamer and all knitters here in forumland! How are things going with the knitting needles? Any new projects on the go?
I've just completed beanie 2 for charity tonight and I really enjoyed knitting it. As it's been cold in Melbourne today, I know that the beanie will be much appreciated when it gets handed out by the charity I knit for. The knitting of beanies is helping me deal with the stress of being in lockdown for the 4th time so I'm glad to be able to do this. See below for the beanie which I hope you like
Take care and keep on knitting!

@Judi9877, your NAIDOC beanie looks amazing! I'm sure whoever gets it will love it. I wish I knew how to do stripes - my friend wants me to make her a Doctor Who scarf, but I'm afraid to get started on it as it will take me months and it will be quite expensive to make. Have you ever made a Doctor Who scarf?
Thinking of you in Melbourne - hopefully you've got enough yarn to see you through this lockdown, and hopefully the time spent knitting is time spent basking in happy brain chemicals. 🙂
I'm making one of my mistake rib scarves in white this time, and it's just for me, too - which is a big change from making them in all colours for friends and family. I've been trying to pull the yarn tight for this scarf, and Mum seems to think it's turning out better, but I can't see much of a difference, oh well!
