Looking after ourselves

Jasmiran
Contributor

When you appear well on the surface

I am trying to look after myself, I am.

I am taking the week off of work to recoup after doing some rediculous hours that I agreed to.

My partner and brother are supportive, mum is unwell but has my back.

My diet could be better, not eating so much take away would be a good start.

My skin is suffering, I look like a pizza.

I have a job which is good, I have been employed for nearly 3 years after a mirriad of various issues.

My bipolar is in check at least, meds work well.

Stress is my biggest enemy, I find it hard to self regulate my time devoted to work.

I want to do well and make money and support myself but I over do it often.

I have been in and out of many different types of jobs since I started working, but I have found my passion in disability support.

I have friends and family and couldn't ask for a better support system.

I have it pretty good, but the lingering effects of my past haunt me daily.

I fear going backwards, I strive to find whatever it takes to stay well.

I have barely used the forums, but I like to think my occasional contributions help someone.

When I look at it I am keeping my head above water... I do the basics to stay well but could do better.

It's a day to day game. I am worrying about marrige to my partner, kids, life... how can I do all that with this mental health obstacle? There is more but I dont have the energy now to think about it.

Talking to friends helps, using the SANE couselling service helps too.

I feel like I'm ranting but I feel like I need to express my attempts to survive.

Life is hard but it's not as hard as it used to be.

Thank you for reading.

Re: When you appear well on the surface

Hi @Jasmiran

A lot or energy and l hope you find time for you.

I enjoyed the story

I picked up on "Life is hard but it's not as hard as it used to be."

I keep telling myself a situation is hard. When we do something without thinking first, our hard situation is harder.

Glad you found your Disability support work

I was doing the same. Stopped with Covid and car issue. Getting back in a bit.

I hope you find some time for you.

You deserve it
