Re: Self care by growing a garden

Hi @Former-Member. My current garden adventures are not too inspiring. The central character is a large caterpillar eating my tuscan kale. But heck he's happy....for now !

Re: Self care by growing a garden

I grew some red kale once and would have gladly fed it to a giant caterpillar @Lostatsea the stuff tasted disgusting.

Re: Self care by growing a garden

@Former-Member not sure about the red kale but tuscan ksle is high in iron. I only grow veg that has a quick high yield. Otherwise stuff it...just get it from the supermarket

@Lostatsea
I try and grow things that are expensive to buy. I find harvesting difficult. Am hoping that I can get a bit of motivation back to get the garden into some sort of order.

Re: Self care by growing a garden

Hi@Darcy. I've been enjoying the few mandarins on our tree. Nothing better than some thing from the garden. What's growing in your garden at the moment

Re: Self care by growing a garden

Hi @Lostatsea
Think silver beet is the only harvestable thing, all other plants are perennial. We live cold climate and don't have a sheltered enough spot for citrus as yet.

Am hoping Mr Darcy will be well enough this year for us to get in a summer veg garden. I work full time and it has been too hard. I really haven't got my gardening mojo back since Mr Darcy's trauma. Trying to find it ...

How are you travelling?

Re: Self care by growing a garden

Hi @Former-Member. I hear you. I had some broad beans growing in my veggie patch last year that were neglected when the family situation worsened here. The veggie patch was an absolute mess but I got such a surprise to see the broad beans that had dried up and the pods left on the ground had germinated by themselves this season. That really made me realise how long I hadn't been out there. And it is calming to grow something. But we are all time poor. I also work full time. I'm pushed and pulled in every direction. No time left to be me.

@Lostatsea
Am I right that you care for your ex? Do you still live in the same house? Does he have other supports?
We are on holiday at the moment bit will have just under a week at home and am hoping to get a few gardening jobs done.
