Was looking at a corner garden and side fence yesrerday and contemplating a load of woodchip to help keep things in check. Mum has a concrete edging machine that I should dust off while on break .

Hello all. Winter gardening for me is mostly weed control, but I'm still bit by bit digging over my "neglected veggie patch" area in preparation for springtime, and still finding heaps of rocks in the process. One day maybe I'll get time to build picturesque rock walls around all the beds. 😄
And I'm stil dreaming of a big glasshouse/conservatory... I want a place to hide from the cold. 🙂

@Former-Member At some point, if I can work out how to safely dismantle and transport it, I'll be getting a large-ish greenhouse that's in my parents' backyard. It's about 3 x6 m, maybe a little less, metal frame and proper glass, not plastic. The real challenge will be finding somewhere to set it up, because the north side of our house has the driveway alongside it. No point setting it up where it won't get any sunshine. I'll wrangle the dream into reality somehow, someday.
It's hard when an expected relax-time becomes uneasy. I've had times when I've been trying to field well-intended suggestions that weren't going to do any actual good; sometimes directed at me, sometimes at other family members. You really don't want to have to explain so much that your/their private life is put out on show, but when you say "No, sorry, that won't work" without explanation, people often assume you're refusing to "give it a try", and what's the point of them trying to help if you're just going to be stubborn... It's a bit of a "rock and a hard place" situation. I guess "well-intended" at least means that they care, even if their aim is somewhat off target.
