Re: Self care by growing a garden

Ha Ha

Cant see them yet @Shaz51

I swapped groundcovers with a neighbour today ... lots of positive spinoff in that.

Re: Self care by growing a garden

I love colours @Appleblossom, love to add some more xx

Re: Self care by growing a garden

Beautiful flowers @Shaz51

Always nice to get a swap in @Appleblossom

Long weekend - yahoo - hoping to get out in the garden.  Mr Darcy weeded around the house as we have visitors coming.

@Smc
Mr Darcy weeding with gusto, looked at agastache at the nursery, just needed to check width and measure up before purchasing. Hope to get them next time we head to town.

Re: Self care by growing a garden

@Appleblossom There's lots of varieties of agastache. I think they all grow similar-ish size but there's different flower colours.

Guess what... the wallabies like all the natives I planted last week. They've all been tip pruned but not too badly. Will have to protect them until they're a bit bigger and tougher. Who needs little Easter Bunnues when you've got wallabies in the garden??

Re: Self care by growing a garden

That would be right @Smc, the wallabies are probably thanking you for the entrée.

Ha Ha @Smc

Re: Self care by growing a garden

@Smc feeling inspired by your productivity, have some crab apples so plan on making some jelly today. We don't eat jam much but will be nice to have on hand for gifting.

Are you jam makers @Appleblossom @Shaz51 @Former-Member @Determined

Liberated some bulbs from surrounding weeds this morning so feeling quite pleased with myself.

Re: Self care by growing a garden

Darcy, my productivity comes in short bursts. The hawthorn berries etc. have been sitting in my freezer for a year or two, and I needed to free up the space. I wanted to get to them much sooner than that. Ideally as soon as they were picked. Freezer was a "contingency plan" when circumstances meant they were otherwise going to waste. I've also got some peeled bananas in there that were meant to be banana cake a month or more ago, and a few other parcels of fruit needing to be used too. I found out years ago that if I need to spread the process of a recipe over a few days to get it done, at least it still gets done, but sometimes it spreads out longer than I like. Baby bites...

Re: Self care by growing a garden

@Former-Member What bulbs have you got on the go? At the moment I've got nerines and grape hyacinths up, but it's too early for the others.

(Crabapple jelly can be nice with roast meat. Try it with lamb, pork or chook. 🙂 )
