May Community Wrap 🎉

Hi everyone,

It is that time of the month again! We are back at it with another wrap-up of what has been happening on the SANE Forums throughout the month of May.

#️⃣Trending topics:

👏Celebrate a member:

This month, we would like to give these members shout-outs for their fantastic contributions to our online community.

@MIFANTCARER – for supporting a member through challenging times and for reminding them to be kind and compassionate to themselves here.

@saltandpepper  for your compassionate, open, and caring responses and suggestions to another member here.

@rivergal for sharing a range of self-care activities that have helped you through your journey here.

🎉 SANE events to take part in next month

Our next Topic Tuesday will be on Tuesday 8th June 2021. We will be discussing employment and mental health. More info is coming soon!

The next Online Peer Group Chat is on Thursday 3rd June, 7pm to 8:30pm AEST. The group chat will discuss how we can build skills to be more assertive. Take a look here for more information on how you can join the discussion.

🔦Spotlight on:

On the 11th of May, we had @HappyCastle  and @Former-Member  from the SANE Peer Support team answering all things related to peer support and why peer support is an important part of the recovery journey for thousands of Australians. If you missed the discussion, please feel free to take a look here.

At the end of the month, to celebrate Schizophrenia Awareness Week, we were joined by special guests from One Door Mental Health and one of our own SANE Peer Ambassadors. We had a great discussion about the guest speaker’s experience living with Schizophrenia, person-centred approaches to wellbeing and recovery, and how to get help here.

A big thank you to all who have submitted their application to become a Community Guide. The SANE Forums team is currently reviewing all applications and will get back to you by the end of the month. If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch with us at team@saneforums.org

quote.pngQuote of the month:

“Glad you have reached out to this forum, from personal experience it has helped me a lot, and not to feel so alone in my mental health issues” – Roses

“Recovery is a journey, not a destination!
It's also tough, scary and difficult, but remaining the same is too!!” – WIP

“There are many here with a similar story and all we can do is pull together in support and provide a listening ear when only a rant will make us feel a bit better” – SJT63
