Hi @cloudcore  and everyone 🙂

I'm here to learn 👍 I have a friend who experiences BPD and I'm trying to learn - thanks to everyone sharing so honestly and generously I hope I can use some of the things I learn 🙏🏻
it's interesting for me because I experience bipolar and it's pretty different - any tips and tricks I have up my sleeve aren't helpful for my friend - but now I'm learning a bit more and hopefully will be more useful if/when she needs support

thank you again everyone - you are all appreciated 🌼🌸🌼

@DrZoidberg- yes, phone is different to online with visuals....I'm the same! So much is gained seeing the person, even if it is online

@Scarlet72, that's really lovely you did that. Change is the only constant, so right now they may not show that interest, but we don't know what the future holds. It may help to just remind yourself (with mindfulness), just in this moment this is how it is....just an idea.

strengths of people with BPD, and how do these strengths support recovery?

I would say stubbornness/determination - sometimes I get myself to do things I don't like by saying I'll show them!

@cloudcore

I know that some of my strengths as a a pwBPD is that I'm passionate and very creative  despite it often hurting me at times with so many different projects that I have on the go. I love knitting, crochet, cross stitching and I've redeveloped a love of journaling and drawing as a way of expressing my thoughts and feelings. I've learnt that knitting a beanie is great when I'm triggered and in a BPD episode so I'm forced to live in the moment of focusing on the beanie pattern at hand.
Writing things down has also helped and having the strength and courage to just write and not press the send button when I'm upset is also a feeling of achievement for me. I've been able to give my psychologist an insight into my psychosis episode recently and how that links in with me and my BPD which he found very interesting and informative from a therapist perspective much to my delight as I didn't think my words could have such an impact on someone. Writing also allows me to be reflective and learn from my experiences as well.

@ArtistZ I have read somewhere that BPD is like Bipolar only in fast forward.
I don’t know how true it is though.
