Hey @Oaktree , yeah. I missed you all so I'm unofficially back early.
When I'm on next on Wed, I'll share about my trip to the US.

So someone in my Tafe class is well behind in their work but instead of trying to catch up they are using their time to complain about how things are being done. They want more than 12 months for this course and more support. The Tafe already offer tons of support. I am worried that this issue will divide the class. It is going to get raised at peer supervision this week.

@Oaktree oh that sounds upsetting, especially when students like yourself have been working hard to stay on-top of tasks so you can graduate in time. hopefully the discussion at peer supervision provides some options that can accommodate everyone.

I am just having a totally different experience to this other student. The lecturers have been really supportive when I have emailed them. Also the Tafe has other supports in place. Maybe I get more support? I am not sure

hmm that is interesting! but also very fair if you had a complete different expedience to others. from my own experience with my classmates, sometimes they blamed the teacher/course even though the real problem was their own time management. but then sometimes they were falling behind because of personal or unpredictable circumstances but they didn't feel comfortable sharing (thus not getting additional support that they needed), some were ashamed/afraid to reach out for support due to feeling 'dumb' so they just blamed the course. @Oaktree do you reckon a lot of your classmates are falling behind? perhaps you're doing really well and exceeding expectations!?

Only 2 or 3 students seem to be behind. I think this student is trying to blame the course when in fact they are just disorganised. This person is late to every class. I think they are wasting their time trying to change the course instead of trying to catch up

yeah if its only a few students behind, and this particular student has consistently been late, then it could defs be a disorganisation issue @Oaktree and hopefully during the peer supervision majority of students will probably be thinking the same as you?

I think you have a good grasp of what this other student should be focusing on instead of what they are currently doing. I would be confident most, if not all, students will agree with you.

There will ALWAYS be people like this unfortunately.
Are you able to step back from it all and focus on what you need to complete the course? I know this can be hard sometimes, but it's important you look after your own needs.
I continue to look up to you in respect to your resilience and to push through this even when things are so tough. So proud of you hun.

Can I jump in here?
I'm not studying the Certificate IV Mental Health Peer Work, but I am studying a Grad Cert in Child and Adolescent Mental Health and I need some support around my studies. I'm finding it very challenging at the moment.
Not sure if this is the space for me to jump...but if I'm in the wrong place, please tell me.
